A little about me:
This is my family; they are my entire world.
My husband, Jeff, is the best guy you’ll ever meet, and also the funniest (and handsomest for sure 😉 ). He keeps us all happy and laughing, and I couldn’t ask for a better partner to journey through life with.
We met when we were 10 years old, and he has been my best friend ever since. We grew up together in Park City, Utah—We LOVE that place and greatly miss the mountains, skiing, and the snow.
We spent six years in Saint Louis, MO, where we attended graduate school, I started this website, and we had three of our children. We moved to Arizona in 2018 and are enjoying settling into our new home and area.
We have four children, Jackson (6), Abby (4), Matt (2) and are expecting a new baby brother in April.
I love Fall-time—the best season of all! I love to travel, and my idea of relaxation would be sitting poolside, kid-free, with a great book.
I don’t like nuts in anything sweet, (Snickers= yuck!) and I really, really hate folding laundry. 🙂 I have an identical twin sister who I’m very close with and who works for me here on TBFS.
I love being a mom, and I’m pretty obsessed with the awesome little humans that Jeff and I have created.
Three kids under the age of 6 keeps me extremely busy, but it’s the best job in the world.
About the blog:
After graduating with a Bachelors degree in Journalism, I’ve worked for a magazine publication, an organic foods distributor, and a craft distributor. Eventually I decided to turn my hobby, and true love—this little blog here—into my full-time business. That decision came when I was pregnant with my second child. Jeff was in Law school, and I was on the hunt for a job. There are not many jobs you can take on when you’re 6 months pregnant, with an 18-month-old at home to care for.
We invested everything we had into this website. It was a HUGE leap of faith, but completely paid off. It has since grown and transformed into a full-time business, and more importantly, the perfect job that allows me to stay home and raise my amazing kids.
Tastes Better from Scratch has been featured on USA Today, Country Living, Huffington Post, Yahoo, MSN, Buzzfeed, Women’s Day, and more.
It’s YOU that makes it possible. So thank you, wherever you are, for making the recipes I share, for commenting, sharing, and for supporting me and TBFS in any way that you do.
My family are the true critics and taste testers behind the recipes you see here, so you can bet that each recipe has been thoroughly criticized 🙂 . If a dish doesn’t get their stamp of approval, then I don’t share it.
The name “Tastes Better From Scratch” is courtesy of a motto ingrained in me by my Mom. I don’t think it was until I moved out of the house that I realized you could buy things like “pre-made” pie crusts or store bought jam. She taught me well that everything really does taste better homemade. It’s cheaper and better for you too.
I love to use real ingredients to make delicious homemade food for the everyday cook. I try not to use processed products, although you may see a recipe here and there with a short cut.
I love developing recipes that are simple and family-friendly, because cooking a homemade meal for your family (or yourself, roommates, etc.) can be easy, healthy and still taste good!
