Why I love this recipe:

  • Comforting – One of my favorite soups to enjoy on a chilly day, homemade Chicken and Dumplings soup hits the spot every single time!
  • Crowd Pleaser – Every age family member loves this meal. It’s full of flavor, loaded with fresh veggies and homemade dumplings and lower in sodium than store-bought. The taste can’t be beat.

How to make Chicken and Dumplings:

Sauté Veggies: Heat a large pot with oil over medium heat. Add celery, carrots and onion and sauté for 3 minutes then add garlic and sauté for 30 seconds. Dump in butter and flour and whisk well for 1 minute.

A stainless steel pot with veggies being sautéed, then butter and flour added.

Pour in Broth and Seasonings: Stir in chicken broth and bouillon, scraping up anything on the bottom. Add thyme, sage, rosemary, salt, and pepper. Add chicken and bring to a boil. Cover with a lid and simmer for 10 minutes, until chicken is cooked. Remove chicken and let rest for 5 minutes before chopping or shredding. Return chicken to the pot and add evaporated milk and peas.

Two images showing raw chicken in a broth, then the cooked chicken stirred into the soup.

Make Dumplings for Soup: Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl. Make a well in the center and add milk, sour cream and melted butter. Stir until combined, but don’t over mix.

Two images showing a glass bowl with flour, baking powder, salt, milk, melted butter, and sour cream. Then the mixture mixed together.

Add Dumplings: Bring soup to a simmer and then use a small spoon to drop teaspoon-sized amounts of dough all over the top of the simmering soup (the dumplings will double in size as they cook).

Chicken soup broth, with dough being added to the soup.

Simmer: Cover the pot and simmer on low for 12-15 minutes. Remove lid, gently stir to break dumplings apart, and scoop out a dumpling to check for doneness. If still doughy, cover and cook for a few more minutes, until tender. Taste and adjust seasonings if desired.

Serve: Ladle warm chicken dumpling soup into bowls or bread bowls, with a sprinkle of fresh chopped parsley on top.

Two bowls of homemade Chicken and Dumplings, ready to eat.

Make Ahead and Freezing Instructions:

To Make Ahead: Make this easy chicken and dumplings 1-3 days ahead of time, excluding the dumplings. When ready to eat, rewarm on the stove, bring to a simmer and add dumplings.

To Freeze: Leftover soup may be frozen for up to 3 months. Thaw chicken and dumpling soup overnight in the fridge before rewarming on the stove.

Recipe Variations:

  • Chicken: I recommend thighs, because they have more fat and won’t dry out or overcook as easily, but breast meat will also work. To use rotisserie or leftover cooked chicken (or turkey), simply skip the step of cooking the chicken, and stir in cooked chicken just before cooking the dumplings.
  • Bouillon: I use chicken better than bouillon base because the flavor is bolder, but 4 regular chicken bouillon cubes may be used.
  • Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings: Prepare steps 1 and 2 in a skillet. Add everything to slow cooker, and add chicken. Cook on low for 5-6 hours or High for 2-3 hours. Make dumplings and spoon them over the top of the hot soup, as directed in this recipe. Press them under the liquid a little before applying the lid. Slow cook on HIGH for 45 minutes. Break dumplings apart if needed and test for doneness.

Ingredients

For the Dumplings:

Instructions

  • Sauté Veggies: Heat a large pot over medium heat. Add oil. Once hot, add celery, carrots and onion and sauté for 3 minutes. Add garlic and sauté for 30 seconds. Add butter and flour and whisk well for 1 minute.
  • Add Broth and Seasonings: Gradually stir in the chicken broth and bouillon, scraping up anything stuck to the bottom of the pot. Add thyme, sage, rosemary, salt and pepper.
  • Add chicken and bring mixture to a boil. Cover the pot with a lid, reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes, or until chicken is cooked through. Remove chicken to a cutting board and rest for 5 minutes before chopping or shredding into small pieces. Return chicken to the pot and add evaporated milk and peas.
  • Make Dumplings: Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl. Make a well in the center and add milk, sour cream and melted butter. Stir until combined, but don’t over mix.
  • Add Dumplings: Bring soup to a simmer and then use a small spoon to drop teaspoon-sized amounts of dough all over the top of the simmering soup (the dumplings will double in size as they cook).
  • Cover the pot and simmer on low for 12-15 minutes. Remove lid, gently stir to break dumplings apart, and scoop out a dumpling to check for doneness. If still doughy, cover and cook for a few more minutes, until tender. Taste and adjust seasonings if desired.
  • Serve warm, with a sprinkle of fresh chopped parsley on top.

Notes

Pro Tip: Choose a wide pot to cook the soup, over a narrow/tall pot, so there is more surface area to add the dumplings in a single layer.
Chicken: I recommend thighs, because they have more fat and won’t dry out or overcook as easily. But breast meat will also work. To use rotisserie or leftover cooked chicken (or turkey LINK), simply skip the step of cooking the chicken, and stir in cooked chicken just before cooking the dumplings.
Bouillon: I use chicken better than bouillon base because the flavor is bolder, but 4 regular chicken bouillon cubes may be used.
Make Ahead Instructions: Make the soup 1-3 days ahead of time, excluding the dumplings. When ready to eat, rewarm on the stove, bring to a simmer and add dumplings.
Freezing Instructions: Leftover soup may be frozen for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the fridge before rewarming on the stove.
Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings: Prepare steps 1 and 2 in a skillet.

Delicious! So tasty! I personally prefer more veggies so I’ll probably add more carrots and peas next time. I used Penzey’s chicken broth base for the bouillon, and it worked out great. I used bone-in chicken thighs so I cooked it closer to 40 minutes.

I like chicken and dumplings but have only had them when eating out. Today I made this recipe and I’ll never be satisfied with having them any other way. Absolutely delicious! Perfect one pot comfort dish. The dumplings were fluffy puffs that literally melt in your mouth. This recipe will be a go to for our family from now on. I absolutely love chicken and dumplings now!

  3. 5 stars
This is my second time making this and it’s definitely a huge hit! I made a couple changes by using a whole rotisserie chicken (so much easier) and only 3 bullions. It was so full of flavor!!!

  4. 4 stars
I needed to use much more liquid (2-3 more cups of broth) than called for to get the soupiness level I wanted. . And four bullion cubes made it way too salty. I would add one next time and then add more as needed. I also added two more cups of water to neutralize the salt. After all the tweaks it came out deliciously

  5. 5 stars
Came out AMAZING! My son doesn’t really like food like this or soup for that matter (he’s 12), but he kept asking when it was going to be done and LOVED this! Thank you for the recipe!

  6. 5 stars
Excellent! I’ve made dumplings all the ways…biscuits, Bisquick, tortillas…and this was by far the best recipe, and I love that it’s homemade. I did use only chicken breast ( hubby’s preference, but dark meat would be great also!) So good, you won’t be disappointed!

  7. 5 stars
I just made this for my sick husband. I didn’t tell him what it was. After he ate his first bowl he told me he doesn’t like chicken and dumplings but, he loved this. Then he got a second bowl. He’s already talking about me making it again. Great job with this recipe. Thank you.

  8. This sounds amazing….my mother use to make chicken and dumplings/pastry but she rolled her dough out and cut it in rectangles…. I’ve never been able to replicate hers! Could we roll this dough out?

  9. 5 stars
It was delicious! My family ALL liked it! I followed the directions exactly. I think I will add more veggies next time. Thank you for sharing!

  10. This was a delicious different (for me) way of making chicken and dumplingsz. Definately a keeper!!! Drop the dumplings slow and let them cook a bit before stirring so they don’t disintegrate. Awesome!

  11. 5 stars
Delicious, Amazing, Mouthwatering. Another keeper recipe from your site. We don’t go out to restaurants anymore because my husband and son are sorely disappointed in anything they order. My personal recipe collection is filling up with a good number of your recipes, so a HUGE THANKYOU for making me a bit of a hero in my own home! Can’t wait to get your cookbook!!!! All the love from my family to yours!!!!

  12. I made this for dinner for my son and husband and both enjoyed. Deemed it as a make again. Pretty much followed the recipe. However, my package of thighs weighed and I cooked it all in the broth to have in hand but did not use it all in the soup. I do think it would be helpful to know if the herbs called out were rubbed, ground, or whole. I ended up using whole dried herbs, the amounts called for, and then grinding with a mortar and pestle but later added more to enhance flavor. I do not like spikes of dried herbs, especially rosemary, in the finished product. I would also suggest adding weight measurements for the flour. My dough was not as wet as that in the video. I used king author flour and have experienced this before when using cup measurements. Weighing flour is the most accurate way to go. Still turned out well though. Thanks very much

  13. Hi Lauren. I plan to make this tomorrow for my parents and a few close friends. I’m not too sure about dropping the dumplings so have a question. Can the dumplings be rolled out and cut into strips before adding to the soup? If so, how thin should I roll them and do I need to change the recipe to roll them out? Thanks in advance!!

  14. 5 stars
Now this is the one! I’m deleting the other chicken & dumpling recipes I have because this is the keeper. So delicious, can’t wait to make it again. And thanks for turning me on to the better than boullion base.

  15. 5 stars
I love this recipe. I did a few things a little different. I slow cooked my chicken the day b4 and kept the stock after shredding my chicken. I used both leg quarters and drumsticks. Also, I added mushrooms and fresh zucchini to the list of veggies and used store brand biscuits(cut in halves) bc they are so fluffy and soft. The broth was fabulous and it was so easy to make. Absolutely love this recipe! Thank you!!

  16. 5 stars
I’m going to tell you. My husband was NOT thrilled with me making chicken and dumplings tonight. He was expecting something bland like he has had before. But not.this.recipe. He was pleasantly surprised with the flavor and just told me, “Ok…you can make this again!” I didn’t have peas, but it was still delicious. This is a keeper!!!

  17. 5 stars
What a fabulous recipe! My husband and I LOVED it. I added tons of peas and celery (didn’t have carrots) and served it with freshly made, crusty bread. I think the only modification I’ll make for next time is use slightly less chicken broth because we like soups with more substance to liquid ratio. Thank you!

  18. 5 stars
Omg! This is the best thing I’ve ever made! Yum!! I’m so glad I randomly had all the ingredients without having to make a trip out for them. Wonderful recipe!! I will be making this many more times 😌 🙌

  19. 5 stars
This is the best Chicken and Dumping recipe I have ever made. My husband totally agreed and said it was the best he had ever had. I didn’t change a thing. Thank you Lauren Allen I have been trying to make good Chicken and Dumplings for years, I will not lose this recipe for sure!
    God Bless.
    BB

  20. This was a great recipe. I left out peas and also used cream of chicken soup. I add extra carrots and extra seasonings (usually) in everything I cook. This recipe is new go to, surpassing my ex wife’s AND my mom’s. My wife says it tastes like her mom’s, so it’s a win.

  21. Such a tasty, beautiful recipe! I will always make this; the whole family loved it. I have a question about freezing…. Can you freeze it with the dumplings?

  22. I love your chicken and dumpling recipe. I do vary it a little bit but not much! I use sweet onions instead of yellow and I add cream of chicken soup instead of sour cream. either way it is very tasty and filling.

  23. 5 stars
I made this tonight for the first time and let me just say that the evaporated milk changed the game! I probably won’t go to Cracker Barrel anymore. Thank you so much!

  24. 5 stars
Love this! Quite tasty! I didn’t have sage so I substituted poultry seasoning for all the herbs. Also, I had some gnocchi I needed to use so I will have to try the dumplings next time. Thank you for this recipe!! It’s delicious!

  25. 1 star
Tasted ok, but gave my husband and I terrible heartburn. We threw 3/4 of it away. Also, the recipe does not recommend using a wide-mouthed pot until the very end, and that is listed under professional tips. My dumplings didn’t cook properly & they disintegrated when eaten.

    1. I thought everyone that Cooks knew to read the recipe all the way through. Plus, the tips. Just as important sometimes as the recipe itself.

  26. 5 stars
The best chicken and dumplings I’ve ever had! Even my very picky husband said it’s the best chicken and dumpling soup he’s ever had!!

I made a double batch and it was HUGE! Will be giving some to my mom and freezing some too.

  27. I don’t normally leave comments, but this was absolutely delicious. The only thing I did different was double the amount of vegetables called for because we love our vegetables. So flavorful and the perfect comfort food for a chilly day.

  28. 5 stars
This was delicious! My 11 year old picky eater even wanted seconds. I will be adding this to my favorite recipes collection

  29. This is the best chicken and dumpling recipe I have ever made. The broth is soooo good! Even my very picky eating 5 year old told me it was a 100/100 and ate her whole bowl. Thank you, this just went down in our list of recipes to make often.

  30. 5 stars
I made this in my instant pot using the sauté function for the first steps and then your slow cooker instructions. I set it to soup/ stew function for the last 15 minutes to cook the dumplings. Absolutely delicious. Thank you so much for sharing your hard work and recipes with us! You’ve been a lifesaver for this tired and uninspired mom.

  31. 5 stars
I completely agree with the name of this site! Everything tastes better from scratch! This simple recipe is absolutely scrumptious, delicious, hearty and so satisfying! I made a giant pot of chicken and dumplings and shared it with several friends in our neighborhood. Everyone was so excited to receive a hot dinner of homemade chicken and dumplings! This is now our family’s keepsake recipe! We can’t wait to try more Re from our new favorite site! Thank you for bringing us such a wonderful recipe that made our tummies smile!

  32. 5 stars
This is the best chicken and dumpling recipe and I have made this dish many, many times. Will keep this one as my go to recipe.

  33. 5 stars
The chicken soup part was delicious! I didn’t make the dumplings, but served over rice and everyone loved it. Thank you for these great recipes that are slowly turning me into a home cook.

  34. The nutritional information- carbohydrates especially- what is the serving size? Is it 50g of carbs for 1/6 of the recipe?

  35. 5 stars
Made this recipe for my family. It was such a hit with my kids, we all loved it so much. Will definitely be making again. So GOOD!

  36. I know differences in location people have unique customs just never understood how how dropping biscuit like dough in liquid are considered dumplings. Much prefer rolled dumplings.

  37. 5 stars
It takes a while to get the dumplings into the pot and I’ve burned chicken twice but I don’t even care. So good and a crowd pleaser even for my 3 y/o.

  38. What a fun and delicious recipe!! It is so flavorful and the dumplings are scrumptious! This would be a great recipe to impress company. 🙂

  39. 5 stars
These dumplings are delish. Better than the bisquik version I grew up with. I left out the seasonings and peas. Just some salt and pepper This is a winner

  40. 5 stars
I have been wanting to make chicken and dumplings for years after trying them for the first time in the south a while ago. This recipe was so easy to follow, and didn’t require a grocery shopping trip as most of the ingredients are things I usually have on hand. (I made my own evaporated milk!) I got three high-fives from my husband as he was eating! It’s a keeper!

  41. 5 stars
This recipe is delicious!!! I had never actually made chicken and dumplings, but it looked delicious and leaving a review to support a wonderful charity was a super bonus. I think I need to grind my kosher salt a little finer, but that’s on me not the recipe. I will definitely be making it again. Thank you!

  42. 5 stars
This was the best Chicken and Dumplings I have ever made. My husband said this is a keeper recipe which he always says for his favorite recipes. Thank you for sharing

  43. 5 stars
I have yet to make one of your recipes that I don’t like. This was last night’s dinner and I followed the recipe completely! My family has crowned me “Master Chief” !! Perfect seasonings! Perfect everything! Thank you so much!

  44. 5 stars
Such a great, tasty recipe! It was even a hit with my biggest critics (my 1 & 3 year old daughters), which is a definite win in my book! The flavors are amazing and it is very easy to make. I can’t wait to add this to my soup rotation!

  45. I’ve never made this before! My grandmother used to make it when I was young and what a treat! This recipe was as good as my grandmother and even better! I used fresh dried herbs from my friend! It was fabulously tasty, easy to make and dumplings were perfect! Ty

  46. 5 stars
Simple and so easy to make. Had all the ingredients, except celery, already on hand. Was the perfect mid-week meal getting into the colder months.

  47. 5 stars
I have never made chicken and dumplings but always loved it when it had the dumplings cooked in the gravy/sauce. This turned out great and all loved it. Thanks for a good, easy to do recipe.

    1. This is such a delicious recipe! Perfect comfort food on a cold January night and so easy to put together. Will definitely be making this again..and again!

  48. 5 stars
This was so good! It was easy to make too! The dumplings were the best and easiest I’ve ever made! Thank you for a great recipe!

  49. I live in western Maryland and we are having a “wintry mix” of weather today. It is the perfect day for Chicken and Dumplings soup. We had it for dinner and it is definitely a “do again” recipe. It was a big hit for dinner.

  50. I’m currently making this and it seems a little too soupy. Even after adding the evaporated milk. Will it thicken? What can I add to thicken it?

    1. It will thicken a bit more! Did you add the flour early in the cooking process? If you end up wanting it thicker you could add a cornstarch slurry a little bit at a time!

      1. Hi Stacy. Yeah. I did the flour at the beginning with the butter. After putting the chicken back in and adding the evaporated milk and peas, am I supposed to leave the lid off? I’ve yet to begin making the dumplings. I’m so excited to try this. My kitchen smells delish.

        1. Yes, you will bring the soup to a simmer and then add your dumplings! There’s a video you can watch that might be helpful too! We’d love to hear how it turned out for you!

  51. Wowie! This should be called chicken pot pie soup because that’s exactly what it tasted like. Super creamy and good flavors. The dumplings were yummy & fun to make! The soup itself was a little too thick for me, reminded me more of gravy! Next time I’d maybe add more chicken broth and cut out the step of adding flour & butter to the veggies. The dumplings thickened it a lot on their own!

  52. This was a big bowl of delicious comfort. My kids kept commenting on how good the broth was, and how yummy the dumplings were. I loved the flavors, and will definitely be making it again!

  53. 5 stars
Made this on Sunday and had tonight – but finished it off by making the dumplings tonight – This was absolutely delicious, we both really enjoyed it. I will definitely be making again (but probably in Winter – getting close to Summer here in Australia). Thanks Lauren.

  54. 5 stars
This was dinner tonight and ALL 4 of my kids ate it, we all loved it and I am putting in the rotation of winter dinners. Its easy to make, even had my 2 boys help. I did use coconut milk because I didn’t have evaporated or heavy cream. Love it.

  55. 4 stars
My family loved this version of chicken and dumplings!

I switched out the raw chicken for rotisserie and skipped the step to cook the chicken. It was delicious and will be repeated!

  56. 5 stars
Made this for dinner last night with my niece, it was perfect for a chilly night of early snow! I even had some leftovers before bed 😉 Super creamy and tasty, I added some fingerling potatoes to the crock pot and they were perfect by the time dinner rolled around. Crusty buttered bread was the perfect accompaniment to sop up the soup. 🙂 Will definitely make it again.

  57. 5 stars
Easy to make! Family friendly minus a picky 4 yr old. I doubled the vegetables to help my kids get their daily veggie servings in. I would make this again.

  58. Delicious!!! This was our first time having dumplings, and we weren’t really fans. However, the soup itself was amazing!

  59. This version of chicken & dumplings is absolutely the best. I cant wait to eat the leftovers!! The directions couldn’t be easier. I had 2 helpings and my friend had 3, it was that good !!

  60. 5 stars
So good! I would double the carrots/celery but I also like veggie heavy soups. I also put extra rosemary and thyme in the dumplings and I think it tied it all together. I have never put evaporated milk in a soup before and I plan on doing that with other soups that call for milk or cream, I think it created a great texture.

  61. 5 stars
Delicious!! Big hit with the family. Looks like we bought it at a fancy restaurant and served at home. Love the herbs!

  62. A hearty and comforting dinner! My 13 year old son said, “Mom this looks like a fancy dinner from a TV show!” Well it does look fancy it’s very easy to make and it’s delicious💜

  63. I made this soup today. It’s absolutely delicious! One of our family’s favorite soups now!!! My husband is allergic to carrots so I swapped out the carrots and used a green pepper instead, that was the only adjustment I made. So easy to make too! And it just happened to start snowing at our house when I was making it! Made a delicious soup on a cold snowy day!

  64. 5 stars
Absolutely delicious, and so satisfying for a cool autumn evening. I’m planning to adapt the recipe so that my vegan sister can enjoy it too – mushrooms for chicken, vegetable broth for chicken broth, olive oil for the butter, vegan sour cream, and soy or almond milk. It might take a little tweaking, but I’m sure she would love it.

  65. 5 stars
This recipe is amazing. I customized it, slightly, to suit my family’s taste (it is easy to do that when cooking from scratch). A few extra teenagers popped in unannounced and finished it off.

  66. 5 stars
This is some of the best chicken and dumplings I’ve ever had (sorry mom)! So flavorful and the dumplings were delicious! Who knew sour cream would make such a difference?

  67. 5 stars
It was good. Not hard to make and plenty of flavor. I added extra meat and vegetables just because my family likes hearty soups. I was surprised by the good flavor added by the condensed milk so am going to try it as a replacement for some heavier creams in other recipes. Thx:)

  68. 5 stars
I made this for a party of 6 adults & received rave reviews. Fragrant & tasty
I used King Arthur flour which required more milk in the dumplings
(I have volunteered several times at the assembly plant .of Feed My Starving Children —it’s a wonderful program)

  69. 5 stars
I made the chicken and dumplings tonight for my family and they loved it. I think next time I will up the spices by a 1/4 teaspoon. Delicious

  70. I made this in the crockpot, was very simple to make. The dumplings obviously didn’t brown in the crock pot but it was all very delicious, the whole family gobbled it up! The seasoning was spot on.

  71. 5 stars
This recipe was excellent! I’ve never tried to make a CnD meal before, but this was easy to put together with simple ingredients and classic flavors. I was really surprised at how creamy this turned out as well. This is a perfect fall meal and even pleased my picky niece and nephew. Highly recommended.

  72. 5 stars
Just got done making these and I am so pleased! They are so creamy and perfect for a fall day. I left the onion out because my family doesn’t prefer it, but the recipe was still flavorful and delicious. This will be a go-to meal for sure. I also used our leftover rotisserie chicken and saved myself a little time.

  73. 5 stars
Thanks for the recipe! Made this tonight for a crowd. You’ve definitely got a hit here. It took me longer to make, too, but that’s not unusual. I’ll definitely make again.

  74. 5 stars
I have tried making chicken and dumplings soup before, but none of them as delicious as this one. It looks, smells and tastes delicious. Everyone love it. It’s very easy to follow step by step and very affordable.

  75. 5 stars
Seriously the best chicken and dumpling soup I’ve ever had. So creamy and delicious!! We’ll definitely be making this a lot this winter.

  76. 4 stars
My family enjoyed this – even the pickier eaters! The only problem was that ours came out quite salty. Next time I might reduce the bullion or use homemade stock without any salt. Thanks for the recipe!

  77. 4 stars
I made this for dinner. Overall it was a great recipe. I was careful to not overmix the dumplings but I thought they would end up more fluffy. They were good and didn’t taste doughy but denser then I thought it would be. I was also careful to only use small amounts of dough when I dropped them. I love all of your recipes, you are my go to when I don’t know what to make. Thank you!

  78. My family enjoyed this dish! My 13 year old made the dumplings while I made the soup. Good team work! I used rotisserie chicken for a shortcut and it still was delicious! Thanks!

  79. The soup itself was really delicious…the dumplings didn’t turn out at all…clumpy balls of dough not like the ones i usually make. i followed the recipe exactly so i don’t know what happened. I will make it again but put in tortilla strips or noodles.

  80. 5 stars
Super easy! Seemed intimidating at first, but the recipe was helpful and all the timing listed worked well. Really delicious and a hit with the family, kids loved it. Used yogurt instead of sour cream and they were still creamy.

  81. This was awesome. I had never made chicken and dumplings before. I was a little intimidated by the dumplings, but it was easy. This was just what I was looking for on a cold chilly night.

  82. 5 stars
This recipe is delicious! My 2 year old called it “the best soup ever mom” and he’s not easy critic to please

  83. 5 stars
LOVE this recipe! I have always loved Chicken and Dumplings since I was a kid, and I wanted to make a recipe for my family. My kids LOVED it too, and they are very picky! My son asked for seconds! Very flavorful, and the soup is a thicker consistency. Yum!

  84. Hi. This looks delicious. I’d like to try this; however, I don’t eat meat nor poultry. The only meat I eat is bacon; what can I say?!? Can you think of a protein replacement. I do like whitefish, salmon and halibut (on sale). My husband doesn’t eat shrimp or I’d try using shrimp. I’d appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.

  85. If I wanted to make this a freezer meal I’m assuming I would do everything up to the dumpling part, freeze it, then reheat and do the dumplings, right?

  86. 5 stars
I sent them an email about a chicken and dumpling recipe, and a day later it came out! I was thrilled. It’s so yummy, with the chicken thighs and homemade dumplings.. perfect as it is! It was so delicious.

  87. 5 stars
I made this last week and it was so easy and so delicious.

I added mushrooms with the onions, carrots and celery and highly recommend for anyone who likes mushrooms.

  88. 5 stars
This was absolutely delicious, but the prep time is considerably longer than stated. I can see this recipe going into heavy rotation this winter. So nice to serve an “old fashioned” soup to the family.

I love Laurens recipe’s, and this one does not disappoint! Using chicken thighs makes all the difference. I didn’t have everything on hand for the dumplings so I cheated and used biscuits.

This turned out even better than I hoped that it would! I used both chicken breast and thigh for extra flavor. I will definitely make this again. Thank you!

Love this recipe and it was so delicious ! We did use canned chicken since that is what we had on hand for lunch. The steps are super easy also

Delicious! Great as is no change to recipe. I did cut up meat before putting it in when I didn’t read the directions entirely and was able to remove that step of letting it cool.

This is amazing! The recipe is easy. I filled the instructions to make it in the crockpot and I was very surprised how great it turned out. My husband who is not a big fan of chicken and dumplings said This is a keeper! We will definitely make this again. Thank you!!
