This old fashioned Peach Cobbler recipe is not only extremely easy to make from scratch, but it’s made with fresh or canned peaches so you can enjoy it all year round! It’s one of my favorite family recipes from my mom, and although I am bias, I think it’s the best of the best!

Peach Cobbler

Peach season is pretty much the best time of the year, am I right?! I love going to “pick your own” farms or buying a large box from a local vendor. Peaches are one of those things I could never get sick of! I have too many favorite peach recipes that I rotate through them each season, starting with my favorite homemade Peach freezer jam.

This peach cobbler recipe comes from my mom, and it is a family favorite recipe she made for us all the time growing up! The best part about it is that it literally takes 5 minutes to throw together! My mom often used a quart jar of homemade canned peaches, but you can also use fresh peaches!

How to easily peel peaches:

I’ve found the easiest way to peel peaches is to gently lower 2-3 peaches at a time into a pot of boiling water. Leave them in the water for about 30 seconds, and then remove them to an ice-water bath. The ice water bath will shock them and keep the peach flesh from cooking, but the peach skin will be so easy to peel that you wont even need a knife!

How to make Peach Cobbler:
  • Add the sliced peaches, sugar and salt to a saucepan and stir to combine. Cook on medium heat for just a few minutes, until the sugar is dissolved and helped to bring out some juice from the peaches. Remove from heat and set aside.

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Slice butter into pieces and add to a 9×13 inch baking dish. Place the pan in the oven while it preheats, to allow the butter to melt. Once melted, remove the pan from the oven.
  • In a large bowl mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir in the milk, just until combined. Pour the mixture into the pan, over the melted butter and smooth it into an even layer.

  • Spoon the peaches and juice (or canned peaches, if using) over the batter. Sprinkle cinnamon generously over the top.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for about 40 minutes. Serve warm, with a scoop of ice cream, if desired.

How to store and reheat peach cobbler:

Peach cobbler is best enjoyed warm, right after it’s baked. Store leftover cobbler covered, in the fridge for 4-5 days.

To reheat peach cobbler, use the microwave or oven. To reheat in the oven, remove it from the fridge and allow it to come to room temperature. Bake at 350 degrees F for about 20 minutes or until warmed through. (Place tinfoil over it if it’s browning too much).

Ingredients
  

  • 5 peaches , peeled, cored and sliced (about 4 cups)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

For the batter:

  • 6 Tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • ground cinnamon

Instructions
 

  • Add the sliced peaches, sugar and salt to a saucepan and stir to combine. 

    *(If using canned peaches, skip steps 1 & 2 and follow the directions starting at step 3) 
  • Cook on medium heat for just a few minutes, until the sugar is dissolved and helps to bring out juices from the peaches. Remove from heat and set aside. 
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Slice butter into pieces and add to a 9x13 inch baking dish. Place the pan in the oven while it preheats, to allow the butter to melt. Once melted, remove the pan from the oven.

  • Bake at 350 degrees for about 38-40 minutes. Serve warm, with a scoop of ice cream, if desired.

Notes

To substitute canned peaches, use 1 quart jar, undrained.

    While this tasted good and was easy to pull together, I ended up baking it an additional 35 minutes. Perhaps it was due to the ripeness of the peaches or the amount of sugar but there is a lot of liquid in this recipe. I would add some corn flour or reduce the milk by a quarter cup should I return to this recipe again.

    Peach cobbler is my favorite dessert so I’m always trying different recipes for it. This recipe is by far my most favorite peach cobbler I have EVER had (and that’s including my grandmas recipe oops). I substituted brown sugar instead of granulated to cook the peaches and 10/10.

    I’m waiting for my boyfriend to come home to try this! I changed the recipe a little; I used whole wheat sprouted flour, coconut milk, dark brown sugar, coconut oil instead of butter and instead of using sugar to coat the peaches, I used local honey.

    The batter came together very nicely and looks delicious!

    EASY!!! Wonderful flavor! I used jared peaches from Costco, eliminated the cinnamon and cut the butter in half due to heart and acid reflux issues. It took over an hour to cook, it was GREAT!

    I found this recipe to be very easy to do
    It turned out an excellent cobbler
    The only thing I’m doing different is adding the cinnamon and a sprinkle of sugar on top at about halfway through the cooking time I found this to disperse the cinnamon and sugar over the surface of the cobbler instead of just being sucked up into the middle
    Overall I would recommend this to any beginner in baking or just anyone who loves peaches cobbler

    This did not even remotely resemble a peach cobbler. Definitely do not recommend. It’s just a pool of butter and peaches.

  15. I made this for my book club tonight because there was a short story that included peach cobbler. It went together easily with your instructions, and looked exactly like the photo. I got the last of the PA summer peaches at market today. I did use less sugar on the peaches and in the flour mixture. It was perfect. There’s a tiny serving left for breakfast. YUM!

    Fantastic, easy recipe. One thing I did to elevate the cobbler was to allow the butter to brown a bit in the oven. Added a caramelized flavor that was just divine. Will continue to use this simple recipe.

    Made this tonight for a little after dinner treat. I added about a cup of blueberries I had in the freezer to accompany the peaches – I have to say it was delicious. Little bursts of blueberry goodness with the juicy flavour of Ontario grown peaches.

    Was good! Followed the directions but had to cook a little longer since my stove temp was a little off. But i would use maybe 1/2 cup sugar instead of a cup next time. It was slightly too sweet for me since I am not a big sweets eater but my hubby enjoyed it.

    Loved this. Made last week with fresh Palisade, CO peaches. This is different from a “crisp” style crumb, more “batter” but none the less very delicious. Probably could halve the sugar and still be an adult dessert.

  33. I have tried several other peach cobbler recipes before making this one. This is the one I am keeping. It was delicious. The others were too but this was a few steps above. I made two of these. The first one I forgot the cinnamon, but did add it to the second one. Both were delicious.

    Tried this recipe today, the batter part came out almost completely uncooked even after I turned the temp up and added time in the oven.
    I compared the milk and butter portions to a recipe in an old cookbook and it was almost double the amount of dairy, with the same flour measurement. I’m thinking the milk measurement needs to be adjusted, or the flour? Wouldn’t recommend this recipe unless you really know what you’re doing.

      Excellent recipe. I followed the directions to a tee. Outstanding with vanilla ice cream! Made 2 batches and shared with neighbors. Next time I may brush a small amount of butter and sprinkle a wee bit of sugar on top 5 minutes before taking it out of the oven just to glaze the top a bit more.

      I followed this recipe (though I did add to minutes to the bake because I prefer a crisper crust) and it came out great. Have you checked your oven temperature? After having issues with dishes coming out undercooked I found my oven was consistently 35 degrees colder than expected! If it is off there should be a way to adjust the temperature.

    Our new house has a peach tree in the back yard. When they ripened we had many good sized peaches. We gave a lot away and still had some. I didn’t want them to go to waste so I looked up easy peach cobbler recipe. I’m not a baker so the easier the better. This recipe was not only simple but delicious. I followed the recipe and had to add only a little more milk then it says. I would definitely recommend this recipe.

    This recipe is quite delicious! I suggest adding a little more peaches (maybe two more). I felt like there’s not enough peaches to the mix. The second time I made it, I changed the white to brown sugar (the one cooked with the peaches)and reduced it to 3/4 cup. The original recipe is just a little to sweet for my liking. I added a bunch of cinnamon on top since I love the taste of cinnamon spice in it. My family quickly devoured the whole thing!

    1. Did you put 1/2 cup sugar in the batter instead of a cup? How did it turn out? I always like to use less sugar especially with good sweet peaches.

  44. I made this cobbler today. I actually received a similar recipe from my Grandmother years ago. Very similar. I did end up however make it more like I remember hers.

    I melt the butter pour into pan that I sprayed with Pam. Sliced washed peaches skin and all. Place on top of butter. Sprinkle cinnamon on top. In bowl flour milk baking powder salt. Mix up and pour over peaches. Bake 375 30 minutes. Much quicker. Very yummy.

    Quick and easy. I used fresh, in-season Colorado peaches (THE best) and threw in a couple of plums because I had them. I also halved the sugar and cut 2 TB out of the butter. It was still plenty sweet. The full sugar recipe would have been way too much, IMO. But the recipe is super easy and was a hit with the family.

    I had been craving homemade Peach Cobbler for months, but no one locally was selling it. I finally decided to bake it myself. I usually use canned peaches but wanted to try fresh peaches and I am happy I did. Your recipe was simple to follow and quick to prepare. Instead of using 5 peaches, I used 7 and I allowed the peaches to simmer for 20 minutes for more juice production…delicious. I also added pure vanilla and almond extract with 1/2 teaspoon of Dark Rum for added flavor. For our dessert last night, I topped this delectable delight with two scoops of No-Sugar added Vanilla Ice-Cream. This cobbler cooked to perfection and we love it! My husband won’t stop eating it

    Really great and SO easy! Made it 3 times in 3 days! Delicious. I used fresh, tree ripened peaches, so only 1/2 C sugar in the peaches, and 3/4 Cup of sugar to 1 and 1/4 C flour in the batter, but other than that, followed the recipe. I might’ve put an extra 3/4 C of peaches in as well…but it comes out beautifully, and believe me, I had company coming and had to be quick and it is a Hit!

    Good but thought it was too sweet the first time I followed the recipe exactly. The sweetness mellowed overnight, though, and it was lovely the next day.     my friends and i get together for “weed and feed” every two weeks. we all go to someones house and after coffee and snack, we work in the yard for a few hours. not just weeding, but any project that needs attention. great way to socialize and help friends. then it’s “feeding” time. today the gals came to my house. for dessert i made this peach cobbler. the five peaches i had wasn’t enough so i added blueberries and an apple. topped with vanilla ice-cream the reviews were stellar !!! thank you for sharing and i passed the recipe on.

  67. Best peach cobbler recipe I’ve tried so far.
    Used 3 cups sliced peaches 🍑 and one cup fresh cherries 🍒. Yummy! Based on reviews I reduced sugar in fruit mixture to 1/2 cup. Looked liked to much liquid with fruit so I added 1 tbs tapioca. ( I don’t like wet, runny cobbler). It worked out well as the fruit set up as a pie filling consistency. Maybe next time I’ll leave the tapioca out and see how it turns out.
    I think this cobbler could be used with just about any fruit. I know I will be keeping this recipe to make again with apples this fall.

    This is the best peach cobbler recipe! By putting the peaches over the cake batter all the peach juice bakes into the cake, and the melted butter in the bottom gives the cake a little crispness. I made two small modifications. Because my husband is diabetic I cut the sugar on the peaches to 1/4 cup and halved the sugar in the cake part of the cobbler. No one missed the extra sugar. Also I didn’t cook the peaches but lightly sugared these & let stand for 2 hours. This recipe is a keeper!! Thanks for sharing it!

  70. I swear some time I should read a recipe ten times before I make it…. Or before my husband goes to the store and texts me; “How many peaches do you need for cobbler?”…..I said 12, he bought 11, I used them all, cannot waste any Palisade peaches! I only used the 1/2 cup of sugar and then read, five peaches…on my! I tasted the peach and sugar mixture, it was fantastic. So I went with it. Lets just say it is heavy on the peaches, but dang tasty! There is a lot of juice in the cobbler, but that just means that it can be drizzled over vanilla ice cream that is on top of the cobbler! YUM! Next time though, I will only use five peaches, less time having my hands covered in peach slime… 🙂

    Delicious. Im not much if a baker but I was given about 4 dozen peaches so I had to make use of them. I doubled the recipe so it needed longer to cook (about an hour). I erroneously put the cinnamon in the flour and it still was devine! My first time ever having peach cobbler. Thank you.

    Delicious! I didn’t have any baking powder on hand so I substituted a cup of buttermilk + teaspoon of baking soda and it turned out great! Since it was already a good consistency from the buttermilk, I only added a splash of regular milk. Also saved myself some time and didn’t peel the peaches and they still turned out with a perfect consistency and luckily the skins weren’t chewy. Didn’t have any vanilla ice cream but it would’ve been the perfect addition! Will def add next time!

      I made this recipe twice because it didn’t turn out well the first time., and I was making it for my neighbor’s birthday. I was embarrassed, so the next day I made it again. The second time was only slightly better. I used fresh, juicy peaches from a local ranch. The first time it came out too juicy and there was no rising crust. Maybe because I used almond flour. So the second time I used regular all-purpose and I didn’t heat the peaches and sugar because the peaches were so juicy. It turned out slightly better and tasted better, but there wasn’t much crust. Not like the photos. Maybe I should try it a third time or find a recipe that works better for me.

    I just made this recipe and it was fabulous and so easy! I do not consider myself a good cook, so I was amazed when it turned out like it did. The only thing I did a bit differently was not to use any sugar with my fresh peaches, as we like our fruit desserts less sweet. Thank you for this great recipe.     Sooooo Good!! I made an 8×8, cut the recipe in 1/2 but used 3 cups of fresh peaches (just 2 of us in the house, did not want to temp myself with eating the entire 9×13 size:) Came out perfect!!!     This is super simple and delicious, and will make your house smell amazing. I do find it quite sweet, so I only use about a quarter cup of sugar in the peaches and maybe 1/2 to 3/4 cup in the batter, and I like it much better, especially since we always serve it with ice cream. It’s also great with a handfull or two of blueberries added! We also like to turn leftovers into breakfast the next day by topping with a spoonful of yogurt. It’s now my go-to cobbler recipe.

    I’ve made this using both fresh, and canned peaches.
    Fresh peaches are waaaaay better. The canned peaches ended up having to much liquid, so the batter just wasn’t able to firm up. But we ate around the soggy stuff because it was still super yummy!

    I watched the video and followed the recipe exactly except that I didn’t have any milk but I had cream. So I used it instead. The batter was VERY dry, (I’m thinking because the cream was thicker than the milk) so I added an additional 1/4 cup so it had the consistency that the video showed. I also had a few more peaches than the recipe called for but added them. This turned out delicious. Last week I made a peach crunch and everyone loved it. So, with all of the peaches from my trees I decided to try something different and looked for a 5 star recipe and this one did not disappoint.     Yes, this recipe deserves all five stars! Blanching the peaches first made peeling a breeze. The crust is tender and cake-like. The fresh peaches just melt in your mouth. I had to add two minutes to the bake time to get the top brown. After I took it out of the oven, I dotted the top with butter.     Okay, there is a first time for everything, yes?
    I tried making this a few days ago and accidentally messed everything up, first by not taking the time to read through the recipe beforehand like I normally do, but I was just so excited to get to make it! I got way too easily distracted. XD
    I also have a just-turned six-year-old son… Long story short I over-measured the milk for the batter, and I accidently overbaked it! I never do that! Lol! It was still edible, and I was still oooing and ahhhing over it, but yeah… I had to remake it. But I was out of peaches by this time so it got fresh cherries and blackberries in equal measure to make up for the peaches, and it was amazing!

    Even though I made it incorrectly, it still turned out awesome! (I forgot to put the butter in the dish to melt it.)
    A few tweaks: 1) I added more peaches. And I would add even more again. When I make apple crisp it calls for 4 cups for an 8×8 dish. I usually use 4-5 cups for a dish that size. For a 9×13 I would totally use 10 cups! Personal preference to have more fruit. 2) Next time I will reduce the sugar in the peaches. Using 1/2 to 2/3 what the recipe calls for will be plenty, I think. I found using the full amount to be too sweet. 3) I reduced the sugar in the batter by 25%. The full amount sounded like a LOT. On eating it, I’m really glad I used less! Can’t wait to try it again with less sugar in the peaches and less sugar in the batter. My family and I like cinnamon, so I added what sounded “right” and looked “right” in both the peaches and the batter.
    The cobbler was SO delicious! The batter turned out fluffy and yummy. I didn’t expect it to rise as much as it did and it was a lovely surprise! The cook time and temp were perfect. 🙂 The juices will be more runny as the cobbler is hot and fresh out of the oven. As we have eaten the leftovers, the juices have soaked more into the cobbler topping. That’s kind of nice to not be so runny. I’m sharing this one with friends!

    I had a lot of extra peaches so I wanted to make peach cobbler to use them all up, and this recipe was great! The bake turned out very nice. I saw several replies mention that it was too sweet, so I reduced the sugar in the peach mix to only 1/2 cup and added about two tablespoons of brown sugar. I added some nutmeg and cinnamon to the peaches, and some to the batter in addition to the cinnamon on top of the whole thing because I thought it could use some more flavor. If you do not wish to add flavoring, I believe that it would taste good all the same. Thanks for the recipe!

    I made it today… I had peaches and nectarines, so I used 3 peaches and 2 nectarines. They were super ripe, so I cut back the sugar a little. The recipe was great! Not too sweet as some comments state. But I am sure that is relative. My only complaint is the cobbler part did not bubble over the peach/nectarine mixture like in the pictures or like typical cobblers. I followed the recipe otherwise (other than the modifications mentioned) to the letter. I did need to bake about 15 minutes longer to get a nice browning on the top. Would definitely use again!

    Good recipe! Sweet and delicious. But beware – after you shock your peaches, the skin comes off easily but it is very difficult to get the pit out. The peaches are just too slick so the pit hangs on and you butcher your fruit. The next batch I froze the peaches after peeling and it was much easier to cut out the pit like you would an avocado.

  163. I decided to make this peach cobbler after seeing it had almost 5 stars! Unfortunately though, I wasn’t able to find perfctly ripened peaches, so I was subjected to using canned peaches. However it was an absolute slam dunk hit at our family barbeque! It had the perfect balance of crispiness and caramelizing around the edging until we began cutting into the center where it looked more like vanilla pudding with peaches than it did baked cobbler or cake! But I will admit- it honestly went against my better judgement when I followed the instructions to NOT drain the canned peachess, but I rationalized that surely 1K reviewers couldn’t be wrong, but then again, maybe all those reviewing this recipe used ripened peaches- not UNDRAINED canned peaches! I immediately began researching what may have caused my “runny batter syndrome” and found out that it was indeed the wrong call to not drain the peaches! It was explained that the juice runs into the batter thus making it almost impossible to fully cook the wet center. I will definitely use this delicious recipe again, but I will also be sure to use ripened peaches or DRAIN the canned peaches! *I also added pure vanilla extract to my batter and the peaches.

    Fantastic. I got a box of peaches from The Peach Truck Sunday. I made this using about 50% more peaches than recommended. I bought fresh baking powder and flour since I don’t bake much.     PRO TIP: do not bother peeling the peaches! You will not notice the skins at all once baked and it saves a TON of effort.

    Came out looking and tasting like the height of summer.
    Topping was flavorful and very light. Did not rise much but I blame old baking powder.

    Even terrific the next day. Killer for breakfast with a nice cuppa joe.

    Just made this for my hubby who hates cooked fruit and doesn’t like cobblers and he said “That’s a hit.” Made it exactly as the recipe said and it came out perfect. I actually was afraid after I heated the fruit with the sugar that there would be too much liquid but it was perfect.   179. Mine turned out horribly. The butter and batter didn’t mix well and seemed too liquidy. It covered my peaches entirely. I baked for less than the full suggested time because it was getting crusty on the edges and brown and yet the cobbler part was doughy and mushy. I was so disappointed. I followed the directions exactly. When I noticed it was liquidy I even rechecked my measuring devices to make sure I used the correct amount. I hope others had better luck.   183. I’m assuming large peaches were used if you try to boil and ice bathe them? I had some small peaches and didn’t think about it but they ended up being really mushy. I cut the boiling time to 15 min and it helped a little. I’d say if you’re having to use small fresh peaches and you want to boil for an easy peel do 10-15 min boil and let sit in an ice bath for maybe 5-10 min. I also accidentally put cinnamon in the batter instead of on the peaches before baking, but I think it turned out really good that way!

      You’re not supposed to boil them for that long. You just blanch the peaches for a few seconds in boiling water then take them out and throw them in the ice bath. The point is to make the skins easier to peel off. Then when you add them to the batter and bake it in the oven for ~40 minutes that’s what cooks them. 🙂

    2. They are only supposed to be dipped into the boiling water for 30 seconds….2/3 peaches at a time, you just accidentally read it as minutes.

    3. 30 sec dip into boiling water for easy peeling is all that is needed. Do not return water to a boil after putting peaches in the water. …. just dip 30 secs and then ice bath

  195. Im not a dessert expert but this recioe has been a source of discussion in my family for a while. I hope you can clarify. We, like you, call this cobbler but i dont think its really cobler. Every reataurant ive been too that seels cobler sells something with a crust. This doesnt have a crust but is cake like with fruit throughout the dough. Ive seen some references to a dump cake or crumble for this. This recipe is our go to dessert, especially with blackberries in the spring.     1. Sorry but the batter needs to be prepared fresh. You could always measure out the dry and wet ingredients and store them separately, to make it quick to add together just before baking.

    Made it tonight. It was so simple and delicious! I’m picky about texture when it comes to cobbler. Even store bought kinds are typically gooey. This recipe is spot on perfect. I read comments about sweetness. Since I was using firm fresh peaches that we picked earlier in the day, I figured I’d balance it out. I didn’t use the full amount written in the recipe, but I also didn’t reduce the sugar as drastically like some comments suggested. I left out about 1/4 with the batter and did the same with the peaches. I have to monitor my sugar intake daily, so this would be a splurge for me anyways. For the rest of my family, I’m sure following exact measurements in the recipe would still produce a totally fine cobbler and not overly sweet. This was so yummy I ate 2 bowls! The balance of a crispy bottom and soft top is amazing! I baked for 38-40 minutes and added 2 dashes of all spice to the dry batter just for fun. Thankfully I had just enough cinnamon for the cobbler. This recipe is being saved permanently, and I totally plan on making it again. TY for sharing with us!!

    My first mistake was following the recipe. It still wasn’t baked after 1 hour.Most recipes call for the batter to go on top, but I followed the recipe.     Sorry, this recipe didn’t work for me. I cut the sugar back to 1/2 cup in the peaches and 3/4 cup in the flour and it’s still way too sweet for my taste. Throughout the middle of the pan, the batter didn’t flip for me, so it was left gooey on the bottom.

    I followed the recipe exact and not only did I have to add another half a cup of milk, I checked the cobbler with 12 minutes left and it was done. I left it in the oven and turned it off, hoping to finish the center. While it still tastes good, it’s very dry and crunchy… I live in Colorado and many recipes need to be adjusted for high altitudes, therefore I’m inclined to believe that had something to do with it. Overall, I was not happy with my result, and I will be attempting to perfect it.

    This recipe is very good!
    Since, there are only two of us, I divided the recipe in half. It worked well.
    I used 16 oz of frozen peaches and cooked them until the peaches were pliable/warm. There was a lot of juice in the pan. I put it all in the baking dish. That worked as well.
    I am an experienced baker but, I didn’t realize the batter and peaches would do a switcheroo in the oven, making the biscuit on top and peaches flavored with cinnamon on the bottom. I followed the recipe, not knowing what to expect and was pleasantly surprised.
    The topping/biscuit layer turned out to be slightly biscuity with crispy edges.
    If you read this rating/comment and are hesitant to make this recipe, I would recommend that you try it.
    I will definitely be making this again.

    So I made this recipe. These are the changes I made. I used a 7×11 glass pan, used 2 cans of sliced peaches (but cut into bite size pieces) added about a quarter cup of blueberries to the peaches. Also added all the juice from the canned peaches. Also added cinnamon to the batter along with some almond extract. Cook time was 55 min. I must say lady’s it turned out amazing. Try my changes you’ll see. Oven times may vary depending on where you live. I have an electric oven so gas may be different. Just keep an eye.

    I made this recipe, but used heavy cream thinned almost half with water. (didn’t have milk). It came out very tasty, but more like a very thin pudding around the peaches, witha slight thin crispness on top. Would that have caused the consistency to not be what I expected? Also I used slight less than 3/4 cup sugar and was still a bit sweeter than my taste. I also baked it about 15 minutes longer as it didn’t look at all done at correct time. I am thinking the cream/water didn’t react with the ingredients as milk would. Yet I do that with cornbread and it bakes fine. Any ideas to offer? (I don’t drink milk but can have cream, so never have milk readily on hand.)
    However, it was delicious and pleasant to eat.

    1. I was out of milk the first time I baked this and substituted oat milk. It worked well. I have since made it using milk and the difference wasn’t noticeable .

But some advice for the future, whoever’s recipe you use, thank them, they took time to do something nice for you, do something nice back. If you don’t like a recipe and have something constructive to say, say it.     Made this up last minute with canned peaches (more spefically just canned peaches, not peach filling, was a little unsure if you meant one or the other so took the chance!) my peaches had an exceptional amount of juice so I only used about 1/3 of fluids from the can, which was just under a quart as it was, and was worried it wouldn’t be ..peachy enough.
    It worked out just fine though! I did have to bake it all the way to 40 min, checked at 35 and it seemed very runny still. With 40 min the entire thing was lovely, the edges a bit chewy,but every one said in a good way 🙂
    I literally found the recipe on a 15 break from work, texted my spouse who confirmed we had everything, and on my hour lunch went home and baked it in time to bring it in for a co-workers birthday!

    This is an excellent recipe and I make it regularly. I rarely have fresh peaches so I use canned peaches minus most of the juice and it turns out perfectly every time. It’s a delicious treat that can be enjoyed year round.

    I made this for my family and they loved it! I tweaked it a lil bit. I added regular cinnamon to the peaches while cooking and I used cinnamon sugar at the end to sprinkle on top.

  282. I made this recipe tonight with canned peaches and it turned out a running mess. I left it in the oven for over an hour to try and get it to firm up but it wasn’t happening 🙁. Not sure why it didn’t work for me.

    1. I’ve run into this problem in the past and it could possibly make a difference if the peaches were canned in juice or canned in water.

    I remember the days when I made peach cobbler with Bisquick – didn’t know any other way – and it was tasty.
    THIS recipe is delicious and I will never use another – so simple to make with ingredients on hand and just as
    sweet as you want to make it. I had really ripe peaches that were soft so I didn’t need as much sugar as called for, I just decreased the amount by 1/4 cup for the p eaches and 1/4 for the batter. YUMMY.

      The peach cobbler is excellent! The only thing I changed was the amount of sugar for the batter. I only used 3/4 cup. It was still sweet. I am going to try with 1/2 cup for the next one. Other than that, it was delicious!

    1. I just took out of oven after increasing baking time juice from peaches wallowing up around the dumplings dont you think at least 2 1/4 cups of flour for a 9×13?? I dont like it this shallow and sprawled used a 28 oz canned peaches ??

      1. Hi peaches are ripening as I type. One of the things I would like is the filling, peaches and juice to be a bit thicker. Can I add 1 teaspoon corn starch with 2 tablespoons of water and mix in once the peaches have cooked on the stove? It will be interesting to see, feel, taste cake-like crust, hope it is near to pie crust. If I can add the corn starch are my measurements off? thank you for being kind. JJ

    This is the best peach cobbler recipe I have tasted! I cannot believe how easy it is. So far only tried with fresh peaches but I’m sure can will work as well. AND this is great for berry cobbler: just use a pint of strawberries, blackberries, raspberries and blueberries – delicious!

    I was on a never ending quest to find the best peach cobbler and now the search is over! This recipe is so good, the only trouble with it is finding the will power to stop eating. It is so so good…perfection! Made it to take for dessert at the camp ground where the kids were. Everyone said how absolutely delicious it was!     Stupidly easy and absolutely delicious. I had run out of unsalted butter, so I used salted while still adding the same amounts to the peaches and the batter. DELICIOUS. I like a little hint of saltiness with my sweets, and I’ll do it this way on purpose in the future! This recipe is so good I’ve made it twice already this week, and it’s worth turning on my oven despite the heat. I will be coming back to this blog for other recipes!

      Yes!!!!!! Three times with frozen. Once with home canned. And today with fresh sliced. Amazing each time. (I am using GF 1-1 flour for the first time today – cross fingers).

      1. Did you follow steps 1 &2 with frozen or just go to step 3? I really want to make this and I only have frozen peaches on hand. What size bag did you use?

        1. Since frozen peaches are frozen fresh and have not been through the canning process, I (personally) would follow all steps, as listed in the recipe. However, I would completely thaw them and let excess liquid drain off before starting.

    I made this today for the second time and made a few changes. I have made it as written with GREAT results, but I decided to tweak a bit anyway. For the sugar I reduced the amount in the mixture that goes over the peaches to 1/2 total cup. And I used 1/4 cup brown sugar, 1/4 cup white sugar. For the topping I also reduced the sugar and used 1/4 cup brown sugar and 1/2 cup white sugar. Perfectly sweet for our particular tastes (plus I use ripe peaches, so mine are sweet to begin with). My other change is to not bother with cooking the peaches on the stove. They simply do not need this step. I just peel and slice my peaches, toss them in the sugar mixture and pour into the pan over the batter. They come out perfect!

    Please for the love of all that is good in this world DO NOT mix the batter and peaches! (And don’t mix the batter too much either. This receipe is EXACTLY how my grandma used to make it. Too good to mess with!

    I love peach cobbler but reserve its “sweet specialness” to once per summer season. After discovering this recipe, I may get a few more in before peach season is over.
    This recipe is THE BEST I’ve tried!!!!
    I really want to cook it in my cast iron skillet. I had to hold back some of the batter. (I was going to reduce the recipe but didn’t have time to fool with calculations.) As it turned out, I didn’t hold back enough. The cake overflowed creating an ugly mess. (It was so ugly I shared on my IG.)
    I didn’t care! It smelled so good! I couldn’t wait to try it!

    Let me tell you, it may have been ugly but it was so delicious … a scoop of vanilla ice cream was the perfect topping … the cast iron skillet created perfect crunchy sides!

    Easy and delicious! I have a local farm that cans peaches. Every time I buy peaches , the fruit goes bad before I bake so I wanted a recipe that worked with a nice jar of peaches. This barely lasted a day in our house.

    I made this recipe exactly as written. The dough baked up over the peaches but is a gloppy mess on the bottom. The only thing I can imagine is that the melted butter wasn’t piping hot – that may have started the baking process a little better. Bottom line, I’ll keep looking for the perfect peach cobbler recipe.

      Kate, I would give this recipe a try again and follow directions EXACTLY. I made it exactly as written and it turned out fantastic and perfectly baked. Plus all the other successful, glowing reviews here can’t be wrong. I think it was user error. It happens to the best of us. So give it another try. I think you will be happier with the results.     Oh! My! Goodness! This was the most delicious peach cobbler ever! E had 25 pines of lovely peaches and the first thing we did was s make this cobbler!     Sorry to be the person who changes a bunch of things in a recipe!! After reading some other reviews, I decided to reduce the amount of sugar considerably because it sounded like it would be much too sweet for my taste. I reduced the amount of sugar mixed with the fruit to 1/3 cup and the amount in the batter to a little over 1/2 cup. I used unpeeled nectarines & added in some fresh picked huckleberries which added a nice amount of tartness – just what I wanted.

      Insanely easy and sooo good. I’ve never made peach cobbler and received some in my farm box. What could be more perfect than quarantining during a pandemic with a dessert made from fresh peaches! I always change up recipes, but decided to make this as is and it was perfect. Read some reviews where people reduced the sugar. I think that’s ok for the peach mixture, but wouldn’t recommend reducing in the flour because it forms a lovely caramelized outer layer over the fluffy crust. I served it with salted caramel ice cream. Watch the video, it makes it so simple to follow. This is going in my recipe book and will make for guests once this pandemic ends.

    I’ve made this 3 times now. Twice with peaches and once with apples. Everyone loves it. The only thing I do different is hold back about a cup of filling and add after about halfway through baking. That way there’s still some showing on top. I found this out the first time I made it and thought I had too much filling until I checked on it halfway through and didn’t see any peaches.

    I’m so surprised that this recipe has so many great reviews. We made it and it’s too much batter, too candy and not enough peaches. The flavor is good but it’s kind of like a peach pancake or something.

  321. I truly appreciated the tip for peeling the peaches. I boiled 4-5 at a time for 30 seconds and put in an ice bath for 1 minute. Just as you said…I didn’t even need a knife to peel them! I have 2 batches in the oven right now and they look and smell fab!
