Healthy, juicy, and delicious Turkey Burgers made with ground turkey and a simple seasoning. Plus tips for cooking turkey burgers on the stovetop, in the oven, or on the grill.

What we LOVE about these Turkey Burgers:

  • Healthy AND Tasty! We love subbing ground turkey for ground beef because it’s often much leaner.  Plus, with our amazing turkey burger seasoning, I think you’ll find it tastes every bit as good as a juicy hamburger!
  • Juicy, not dry. No one wants a dry burger, so we’ve included some important ingredients to ensure your burger stays juicy.
  • Cook it your way!  We’ve included instructions for cooking your turkey burgers on the stovetop, in the oven, or on the grill.

How to Make the Perfect Turkey Burger:

1. Combine burger ingredients: In a mixing bowl, add turkey, garlic powder, onion powder, ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper, egg and breadcrumbs. Using a fork, mix together—try not to mix it too much.

Use your thumb to make a depression in the center of each patty. If grilling, place the patties on a parchment lined plate and freeze for 20 minutes.

3. Cook:

    • Stovetop: Heat the canola oil in a nonstick griddle or large nonstick frying pan over medium-high heat. (Or spray generously with non-stick cooking spray). Once hot, cook the patties for 4-5 minutes on each side.
    • Grill: Freeze the patties for 20 minutes before grilling (this will help them hold their shape.) Grill for a few minutes on each side, until cooked through or they reach an internal temperature of 160F
    • Oven: Bake at 375 F for 25-30 minutes. Then sear on a hot pan for 2 minutes on each side.

4. Serve on buns, with desired toppings and condiments of your choice.

  • Condiments: ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, BBQ sauce

Variations and adaptations:

  • Protein Style: Serve your turkey burger with all your desired toppings, wrapped in Boston bib lettuce cups.
  • Make it Spicy: finely chop a jalapeño pepper and mix it in with the turkey in Step 1.
  • Black and Bleu Turkey Burger: Mix in ¾ cup bleu cheese crumbles in with the ground turkey in Step 1.  Brown onions in a skillet with butter and add to the top of the cooked turkey burger.
  • Gluten Free: Substitute almond flour for bread crumbs.
Make Ahead and Freezing Instructions:

To make ahead: Make burger through step 2 of the recipe, just before cooking.  Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and cover them with plastic wrap.  Refrigerate for up to 1 day before baking.  

To freeze: Make burger through step 2 of the recipe, just before cooking.  Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and put them in the freezer to “flash freeze” for one hour.  Once burger patties are partially frozen, layer them in a freezer safe bag or container, with parchment paper between them.  Freeze for 2-3 months.  Bake from frozen or thaw in refrigerator.

  • 1 pound lean ground turkey
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 tablespoon canola oil , or use pan spray

For serving:

  • Condiments: ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, BBQ sauce
  • Toppings: lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, avocado

    These are fantastic burgers. Turkey, or Chicken, burgers finally are turned into something worth eating. I’d give this six stars if I could.

      1. The sodium content listed for the turkey burger includes the bun and all ingredients used in the recipe. This number might seem high, but it’s a general estimate. To reduce the sodium in your burger, consider not adding extra salt to the patty mixture and opting for lower-sodium versions of the buns and other ingredients. These adjustments can significantly decrease the overall sodium content of the burger.

  6. Delicious turkey burgers! I made the burgers exactly as the recipe states. Instead of serving them on rolls, I made my homemade guacamole and spread it on top of the burgers! Will definitely make this over and over!

  7. Scrumtous! I did omit the ketchup due to dietary restrictions, but they were still great. I used a George Foreman grill for 4 minutes and air fried them for the other half at 360 F, flipping after 5 minutes and they were great that way, too. Thanks for a way to make turkey burgers with flavor!

    Really….the best turkey burgers! I loved them and made a believer out of my boyfriend. Will make again and again! The only change I made is that I didn’t have dijon mustard so I used spicy mustard.

    These are, by far, the best “turkey burger recipe” that I have tried-and loved! So moist and delicious! I added chopped onions and I sprinkled, with Creole Seasoning (Tony Chachere’s), when I cooked them. My husband also loves them and they are now his first request for dinner. Thank you!

  17. Held up beautifully in a non-stick skillet, but the flavor was too mild. Beef burgers have a more intense flavor than turkey burgers. Next time I will try chopped fresh onions and garlic, instead of their powders.

During the winter my kiddos like turkey burgers but I hate cooking them on the stove and smoking up the house. 25 minutes at 375 on a foil-lined sheet pan was perfect. They were juicy and tasted amazing on Hawaiian buns. Going to make these ahead and try freezing them next time. My very picky child had two. (I make slider-sized ones for the kids.)

    Smelled really good when cooking but taste was not that impressive. It could have been that I used 100% white meat ground turkey instead of the mixed ground.

    Really tasty and better than restaurant worthy!
    Only modifications were using panko crumbs and adding fresh parsley ( about 1/3 cup).
    When frying once it was brown we added a little water to steam it and keep it moist.

    Followed the recipe exactly as stated and it was great! I cooked the turkey burgers using 94% ground turkey on a non-stick skillet. Made half the recipe last night and placed the rest of the uncooked patties in the fridge for today. I didn’t have any issue with the burger crumbling or being too wet to stick together.

    Great recipe. I added a bit more bread crumbs (1/2 cup instead of 1/3 cup)so that the patties would stick together, as well as red pepper flakes for added flavour. We eat the patties without buns and with cranberry sauce.

    OOMMGG!!! First turkey burger that my husband and I love!! Juicy not dry!! Didn’t have dijon so used spicy brown mustard and a couple squishes of low-fat mayo. Read a lot of reviews statng soy sauce better than worchester for flavor, so used soy. Other than that, stuck to recipe. Let patties sit in frig for several hours. Patties firmed up as bread crumbs soaked up the liquids. Cooked in ridged cast iron pan. Beautiful grilled marked juicy burgers!! Used 93/7 ground turkey. This was such a good burger I can probably go with 99% fat free ground turkey next time. THANK YOU FOR THIS RECIPE!!!!

      These were outstanding! I had never made turkey burgers before and these had tons of flavor, were nice and moist, and held together just fine! I baked mine at 400 for 20 min and then broiled for another 5. I baked them on cooling rack over a baking sheet.

    I make turkey burgers often, and before I came across this recipe, no one in my house was ever excited. Now that I make these, everyone is on board! I even make up extras and freeze them uncooked for nights when I’m too busy to really cook from scratch.

    Everyone loved them! I didn’t have worcestershire (sp?) sauce, so I put in a little bit of bar-b-que sauce. Cooked them on a stove top flat grill and served with cheese, sliced avocado, and sautéed onions cooked in olive oil with a sprinkle of chipolte seasoning.

    These were BOMB! I’ve always thought turkey burgers were too dry, but was wanting to mix things up on the grill. I saw this photo and decided to give them a try. They were so good!
