Meet our “better than basic” Grilled Ham and Cheese
Grilled Ham and cheese is one of our go-to’s for busy weeknights, and the simple honey mustard sauce we add to it is my favorite part! Good quality ham, bread and cheese are essential; your sandwich is only as good as your ingredients! I always slice the cheese by hand so I know it's extra fresh.

How to make Grilled Ham and Cheese:
Assemble Sandwich: Make the honey mustard sauce by stirring all ingredients until smooth (can be made ahead and refrigerated). Optional: Spread a thin layer of sauce on the inside of each bread slice. Layer sandwiches with ham and 3 slices of cheese.
Cook and Serve: Butter the outside of each sandwich and cook in a skillet over medium-low heat for 2–3 minutes per side, until golden brown and the cheese is melted. Serve warm with extra honey mustard sauce for dipping. Serve with Tomato Basil Soup, a green salad, pasta salad, or sweet potato fries.

Meet our “better than basic” Grilled Ham and Cheese

as a little kid, my favourite snack after elementary school was a grilled cheese with a slice of craft singles and bologna. Now that I’m “an adult” I’m looking for a fancy version lol.
I love the sauce in this recipe! It gives it just a little bit extra something. I also switched it up With two or three varieties of cheese, fresh maple dark forest ham, and I also added a slice of tomato with pepper on it, and spread a little bit of avocado on it.
This is my go to snack with a nice bowl of homemade tomato soup!
Or if you wanna try something different, I mix together a cream of potato and bacon soup.
One of the best sandwiches I’ve had in a while. Also the first time I’ve ever made my own honey mustard and I’m obsessed. I used swiss cheese because I didn’t have cheddar. Fantastic and incredibly easy!
So good! This was a fast meal but so good. The sauce was amazing. I’m adding this to my list of recipes to make time and time again.
Hi Lauren, I love your ham n cheese sandwich, the sauce is what it made so delicious. I also tried it with a slice of tomatoe. Delicious! Thanks for something quick. Gail
Did the original recipe have kale in it? Trying to find my grilled ham and cheese with kale recipe and thought this was it. It was really good. I did like the sauce either way!
Yes, the original recipe did. Nothing else in the recipe has changed. You’re welcome to add some kale if you’d like!
I really enjoy all your recipes. Family and friends love when I give them your recipe. They always ask ” what treats are you making for us today?” Lol, I love love love it! Thank you!
You so use ingredients as called for. No variation!
This is going to be my go to grilled ham and cheese. The sauce made it to the top. Thank you!

Great sandwitches for Easter morning! I adore cheddar cheese, and the sauce looks delicious…have never tried it though. It’s on my to-cook-list now 🙂
