This Egg White Oatmeal (also called Protein Oatmeal) is a game-changer for your morning routine! Cooking egg whites right into your oats adds a serious protein boost without any eggy taste, leaving you with the creamiest, fluffiest oatmeal.

My Favorite Way to Add Protein to Oatmeal is with Egg Whites!

I'm telling you, don't knock it til you try it–adding raw egg whites while cooking regular oatmeal gives the oatmeal a big boost of protein without any weird flavor you might get from adding a scoop of protein powder. They're still creamy and delicious, with a traditional oatmeal taste. The egg whites provide a good boost of protein to keep you fuller longer. ,
The trick is to add the egg whites toward the end of cooking over LOW heat and stir constantly so they cook into the oats without scrambling. I use liquid egg whites from a carton for the easiest measuring. Then top with your favorite toppings like banana, maple syrup, nut butter, or fresh berries!

How to make Egg White Oatmeal:
Cook the oats. Combine rolled oats water and milk in a small saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring occasionally, for about 3 to 4 minutes until the oats are mostly absorbed and starting to thicken. (You could use all milk, or all water. I use both because I like the creaminess the milk adds, but I feel like a little water helps the texture not get “gummy”).
Add the egg whites. Reduce heat to medium-low. Slowly drizzle in 2 to 3 tablespoons of liquid egg whites (or 1 to 2 egg whites) and stir constantly and vigorously for just about 1 minute. The oatmeal will become thick, creamy, and fluffy as the egg whites cook in.
Season and serve. Remove from heat and stir in a pinch of salt, vanilla extract, and sweetener of choice. Transfer to a bowl and add your favorite toppings such as sliced banana, a drizzle of almond butter, fresh berries, or a sprinkle of cinnamon.
