Egg whites is the secret ingredient to a cozy bowl of oatmeal that’s secretly high in protein, without tasting like it. These protein oats are DELICIOUS!
Cook the Oats: Heat milk and water in a small saucepan until simmering. Add oats, cinnamon, and salt, stir well and cook over medium heat, stirring often, for about 5–6 minutes until a lot of the liquid has been absorbed.
1/2 cup old fashioned oats, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/2 cup milk , 1/2 cup water, pinch of sea salt
Add Egg Whites: Reduce heat to LOW. Slowly drizzle in the egg whites, stirring constantly to fully incorporate. Cook for about 1 minute, stirring, until the oatmeal thickens and becomes creamy and fluffy (no visible egg pieces).
1/4 cup egg whites
Serve: Remove from heat and stir in maple syrup. Transfer to a bowl and add desired toppings like banana, berries, a drizzle of peanut butter, or coconut flakes.
1-2 teaspoons maple syrup or honey
