This delicious and unbelievably easy Tiramisu recipe is made with coffee soaked lady fingers, sweet and creamy mascarpone (no raw eggs!), and cocoa powder dusted on top. It requires no baking and can be made in advance!

Who doesn’t love an easy no-bake dessert?  That’s one of the best things about this tiramisu recipe.  If you are looking quick no-bake dessert I also love No Bake Peanut Butter Pretzel Bars and Butterscotch Cereal Bars.

A slice of homemade tiramisu on a white plate.

This recipe has been a long time coming, and I’m embarrassed to admit how much tiramisu has been made in the trial of this recipe (I literally bought out every package of Savoiardi lady fingers at two different stores!) but I wanted to nail down the right approach.

By “right approach”, I mean how traditional of a tiramisu recipe I wanted to share. (In case you’re not familiar with it, Tiramisu is a popular Italian dessert made with lady fingers (or spongecake), coffee, liqueur, and mascarpone cheese topped with chocolate powder). Should I make the lady fingers from scratch? Does it matter? And more importantly, do I make it with raw eggs?

What makes my recipe different:

My tiramisu does not use raw eggs. It’s the easiest tiramisu recipe to make, and there’s no sacrifice in flavor.

Traditional tiramisu uses raw egg yolks and sugar beaten and then combined with raw whipped egg whites and mascarpone. I’ve tried that method, but thought people would most likely be turned off by the raw eggs.

Then I tried using a double boiler to gently cook the eggs and sugar before adding them to the mascarpone, which is a really common method used in lots of modern recipes (the Pioneer Woman has a great recipe!). I found it tricky to get the thick and creamy mascarpone layer I wanted.

So, I ultimately decided to swap out the egg whites in favor of fresh whipped cream, because I like the flavor and texture more. The result is delicious and EASY! You’re going to love it!A clear glass pan of tiramisu with two slices removed from the center.

Ingredients you’ll need:

  • Ladyfingers: I buy them, but you could make them from scratch.
  • Mascarpone: it wouldn’t be true tiramisu without mascarpone, but if you absolutely must, you could substitute cream cheese.
  • Coffee: I use espresso
  • Heavy Whipped cream
  • Granulated Sugar
  • Vanilla extract: or substitute imitation vanilla
  • Cocoa powder: for dusting on top

The ingredients needed for tiramisu including ladyfingers, espresso, mascarpone, cocoa powder, cream, vanilla and sugar.

How to make Tiramisu:

  • Mix creamy filling. Beat the mascarpone, cream, sugar, and vanilla together until stiff peaks.
  • Dip lady fingers. Add the espresso and liqueur (if using) to a shallow bowl and dip the lady fingers on both sides (don’t let them soak–just a quick dip!)
  • Layer mascarpone. Smooth a layer of the mascarpone/whipped cream mixture on top of the lady fingers.
  • Repeat. Add another layer of lady fingers (dipped in coffee and liqueur) and another layer of cheese mixture. Dust with cocoa powder.

Process photos for layering tiramisu including dipping ladyfingers in espresso, layering a dish, adding mascarpone cream, layering again and topping with cocoa powder.

What kind of alcohol is used in tiramisu?

Tiramisu can be made with or without alcohol. This recipe calls for coffee flavored liqueur because I like that it enhances the coffee flavor.

Alcohol free: Leave it out completely.

Alcohol variations: use dark rum, brandy, marsala wine.

Espresso substitutions:  coffee, decaf

MAKE AHEAD AND FREEZING INSTRUCTIONS:

Tiramisu is even better when made in advance, allowing the flavors to blend! It will keep in the refrigerator for 2 to 3 days.

To freeze, make completely, but don’t dust with cocoa powder. Cover tightly with plastic wrap and then tinfoil and freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw in the refrigerator overnight and dust with cocoa powder a few hours before serving.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 8 ounce container mascarpone cheese ,room temperature
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups cold espresso
  • 3 Tablespoons coffee flavored liqueur ,optional (Kahlua or DaVinci brands)
  • 1 package Lady Fingers ,Savoiardi brand can be found in the cookie aisle at your local grocery store, or online
  • Cocoa powder for dusting the top

Instructions

  • Add whipping cream to a mixing bowl and beat on medium speed with electric mixers (or use a stand mixer). Slowly add sugar and vanilla and continue to beat until stiff peaks. Add mascarpone cheese and fold in until combined. Set aside.
  • Add coffee and liqueur to a shallow bowl. Dip the lady fingers in the coffee (Don't soak them--just quickly dip them on both sides to get them wet) and lay them in a single layer on the bottom of an 8x8'' or similar size pan.
  • Smooth half of the mascarpone mixture over the top. Add another layer of dipped lady fingers. Smooth remaining mascarpone cream over the top.
  • Dust cocoa powder generously over the top (I use a fine mesh strainer to do this). Refrigerate for at least 3-4 hours or up to overnight before serving.

Notes

Alcohol: Tiramisu can be made with or without alcohol. This recipe calls for coffee flavored liqueur because I like that it enhances the coffee flavor, but other options are marsala wine or brandy.
Make Ahead Instructions: Tiramisu is even better when made in advance, allowing the flavors to blend! It will keep in the refrigerator for 2 to 3 days.
Freezing Instructions: Make completely, but don't dust with cocoa powder. Cover tightly with plastic wrap and then tinfoil and freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw in the refrigerator overnight and dust with cocoa powder a few hours before serving.

Loved this recipe. It was a hit! The only change I made was to use chocolate and vanilla ladyfingers. I used Frangelico liqueur, which is my favorite. Not using eggs was such a time saver. Thank you for the recipe.

I have to say that I was very disappointed with this recipe. I just don’t understand how it could have such high reviews. In terms of ease, I’d give it a 3 out of 5, middle of the road, but the taste is a 2 out of 5. Followed the recipe exactly, sans the alcohol, and I tasted none of the espresso at all. Also, the amounts of ingredients for the cream layers should be increased by 1/4 just to not have to ration and scrounge in order to fully spread enough for each layer. Super disappointed with this.

I’ve been a tiramisu fan for years and had it in Italy, but never found a good one in US. Until now. My sister made this for my birthday and it hits the jackpot! Thank you!

  4. 5 stars
I’ve made this several times and it’s delicious, in fact, far more delicious than it’s simplicity might suggest, a real keeper. I don’t use liquor and it’s still a quality dessert. Of course, the whipped marscapone, cream, vanilla and sugar is delicious piped into little serving glasses, topped with berries, for a lighter summer dessert, too!

There is not nearly enough Espresso flavor when you just dip the top and bottom, in fact, I struggled to taste it at all. This recipe IS easy and simple, but it’s not at all like tiramisu. It’s more like whipped cream soaked lady fingers. The heavy whipping cream drowns put the flavor of thr mascarponr cheese, and the consistency is just wrong. The missing eggs are VERY apparent. This is tiramisu for people who don’t like tiramisu.

Just made this twice – first time had to substitute ricotta (blended it in the food processor first) and some type of cookie because I didn’t have lady fingers…and it was still yummy! Just put the 2nd one in the fridge and tasted leftovers and even right after it’s made it’s SO yummy. Thanks for the easy recipe!! I didn’t want to mess with eggs.
Oh and I used store-brand lady fingers and ended up using about 5oz (I used 2x 3oz packages but I had extras).

  7. I have made many tiramisus, and yours was the very best non egg recipe.
I made it for a family birthday pastry – it was 4 layers high and 10 fingers wide. Kept its shape and I was able to candles in it as well.
    Thanks so much

  8. I was just wondering how I could just use instant coffee instead of espresso as I don’t have an espresso. How much instant coffee should I use for each cup of water

  9. Made your recipe and it was the best tiramisu anyone had ever had was the feedback, the biscuits are expensive and next time I’ll make them , they taste
Iike a dry sponge cake so I reckon it can be done. Thanks for your recipe simply magnificent

  10. 5 stars
The best ever!!!!! I did everything as instructed. Wow, wow, wow!!!!! Just put a tablespoon of amaretto into coffee mixture!! Will never make it any other way!! Thanks

  11. I used 2 c creme, added powdered sugar (less than 1/4 c) for filling. For coffee, I added instant coffee granules in lieu of liquer. Whipped creme was not too sweet and easy to spread.

  12. 2 stars
I tried this recipe as written and found the cream layer was way too soft. Upon looking at other recipes, I probably could have used only 3/4 c heavy cream.

Also, so much waste for the espresso. You only need a few ounces.

    1. 5 stars
I make my own cold brew espresso – soak coarse grind espresso beans soaked in room temp water 1:1 overnight. You can make as much or as little as you need!

  13. I tried this recipe for my husband’s birthday and in his words this was “one of the better Tiramisu’s he’s eaten” – (note that we’ve been on a roll through the last year tasting tiramisus across italian restaurants to rate them – so this meant a LOT!) Loved it – simple to make too!
I do recommend using a hand mixer. I didn’t realize I needed one (I am new to making desserts) and started manually whipping with a whisk and realized I had a loooong road ahead of me to get to stiff peaks. It is possible manually with some arm strength, but it takes much longer so I don’t recommend trying unless you have to. Either ways, the result was great and I’m so grateful I chose this recipe to follow!

the cream tasted like nothing and the coffee dipped fingers were dry on inside, overall it doesnt taste like anything but plain cream and coffee

  15. A double shot of espresso is ~2 ounces. Are you pulling 6 double shots for this to get 12 ounces or do you dilute the espresso shots after you pull them? ~114 grams of coffee is a lot to experiment with, but if that is what’s needed to make the dessert quality it makes sense.

    1. I can attest to the fact that was way too much espresso. Not sure if I was misreading the recipe, but I don’t think I even used half of that

    1. 3 stars
I am confused about how this recipe is written and why it needs to be repeated twice: once as “what you need” and “how to make it” and once as “ingredients” and “instructions” . And all that after the life story, which all American recipe sites seem to have (which is why I strongly prefer European sites, that have maybe a short paragraph as intro, then ingredients and instructions without all the BS).

  16. 5 stars
Thank you Lauren! I absolutely love this super delicious super easy (no raw eggs) Tiramisu! It always receives rave reviews!!!
I did not use the liqueur. I used my Keurig to make 2 6-oz decaf pods on the “strong” setting.

  17. Hi Lauren, I don’t live in the US. May I know how many ladyfingers are there in the packet you linked in the recipe card? Or how much does the packet weigh? Thank you
    Tina

The best dessert I have ever made for someone who cannot eat eggs. We all loved it. Will make again for sure. Left out liqueur. Did not feel it would be necessary and I think it was the right decision.

  19. Wow – I made this for dessert last night and it did not disappoint. I dipped the lady fingers in both espresso and Starbucks coffee liqueur (no longer available) – knock your socks off FABULOUS. Thank you. And we did not miss the yolks at all. Everyone was blown away. Thank you so much. 5 star recipe.

  20. We’ve been on a quest for the perfect tiramisu, and finally, our 23-year-old son took matters into his own hands. Your recipe made the process so simple, and the result was the best tiramisu we’ve had in ages! We used to order it everywhere, but the quality has declined lately. Kudos to my son for a fantastic job, and a big thank you for sharing this amazing recipe!

  21. 5 stars
Thank you SO MUCH for this wonderful tiramisu recipe! I loved making it, it’s now one of my favourites and something which I will make regularly, you literally can’t go wrong and it tastes incredible! Looks amazing too if you have guests! I’ve never commented on a recipe before but really wanted to thank you and encourage people to try it! x

  22. 5 stars
So easy to make! In fact, maybe too easy because it’s so delicious I’ll want to be making it all the time! I found the key to being able to fold in the mascarpone properly really was in having it at room temperature. But I also creamed the mascarpone with a bit of the suger before folding it in as well. So delicious and even better the next day.

  23. 5 stars
Thank you so much for sharing the recipe for the tiramisu. Not only was it delicious but your video made it easy.

  24. 5 stars
I made half of this using 2 tsp of confectioners sugar, 12 Savoiardi, and a double-strength instant espresso. It turned out really well. Thanks for such an easy and delicious recipe. I would suggest about 1.5 seconds per side of each cookie. I like them a little bit soaked. Yum! 2 days in the fridge was great.

  25. I made this tonight as a birthday cake for an Italian themed supper on Saturday. I have made it in the past and it is my go to recipe. I make my coffee very strong, added 5 tbsps of Kaluha to the mix. Love it!

  26. 3 stars
So it was easy to make but bland. I increased the sugar to 1/2 cup and it still wasn’t sweet enough. And no one tells you how much coffee to put in 1.5 cups water! So I put 4 tsp strong espresso but still felt the coffee flavor was not very pronounced. Will search for another recipe.

  27. 4 stars
It was pretty yummy but I will say you know when you put it in the coffee liquor situation dip it too quickly because I dipped mine way too quickly and it was a little dry. But this is definitely an easy quick recipe. Highly recommend.

  28. 5 stars
This was so delicious and easy!!!! I cannot wait to make it again. I always thought tiramisu would be so complex but this recipe made it easy 🙂 I made it for my dads birthday and the whole family had seconds!

  29. 5 stars
This is the easiest, best Tiramisu I have ever made. This time I used Espresso mascarpone and it turned out delicious!!!!
Give this recipe a try. You won’t be disappointed.

  30. 5 stars
This is one of my favorite desserts, and I wanted to try it for the first time. It came out really good, tastes really good too!! I’ll definitely make this again.

  31. 3 stars
I found this to be average. Made everything as specified and it didn’t hit the way I thought it would. Seems bland and too light from too much whipped cream. I think next time I’ll go traditional for a creamier slightly thicker custard texture.

  32. 5 stars
This was the best and easiest recipe ever. I brought it to a Thanksgiving dinner and everyone loved it and asked me for the recipe. It’s a definite keeper

This recipe tastes great & was so easy to make! I used Kahlua which was needed to add sweetness & depth of coffee flavor, IMO. I also stirred a little heavy cream in the softened mascarpone to allow it to fold in better- great tip by another reviewer!

  35. Made this last night. It was very easy to make. Let it sit in the refrigerator all night.
It setup very nicely and the layers look beautiful! Will definitely make it again.

  36. 5 stars
This was the easiest recipe I saw online and was so tasty! My family loved it. I even used brown instead of white sugar and it tasted just like store-bought tiramisu. Thank you Lauren!!

  37. 5 stars
Just assembled the tiramisu. The recipe was easy to follow and I can’t wait to try it tomorrow! From what I tasted while assembling (couldn’t help myself!), it is going to taste so good! Thank you 😊

  38. 1 star
I made this Tiramisu, it is horrible, it’s got way to much double cream and mascaponi in it. It’s plain and tasteless.
The egg one is the best.

    1. Wow! Harsh much? I never leave replies but this comment made me.

I too have made this recipe, multiple times. Everyone loved it, but it IS different than the traditional recipes ( or “the egg one” as the eloquent Fiona calls it).

I don’t know why Fiona would make a quicker, easier recipe if she loved her traditional recipe so much..perhaps just another troll spreading bile from the safety of anonymity?

    2. Have u thought it just might be the way u made it this time🤔I made this recipe 9 times already and they loved it ,of course add brandy🤗but give.it another try, u’ll luvvvvvv it

I had never tried tiramisu because I don’t like coffee. But my daughters convinced me to try this recipe. OMG!!! It is soooo delicious! And it was really easy to make. I had read the comments and whipped up the mascarpone cheese so that it blended well with the whipped cream. This recipe is definitely one I will make again and again.

  40. 5 stars
Amazing and easy recipe! I omitted the alcohol and added 1/2 tsp of almond extract and the flavor was delicious. My family loved it, this will for sure be a staple recipe for me!

  41. 5 stars
Wow, this was so easy and so delicious. I substituted dark chocolate shavings for the cocoa powder but otherwise followed the recipe and it came out beautifully. In the comments someone said they had trouble blending the cheese with the cream, so my solution was to leave the cheese out most of the day, stir it with a spoon until quite soft, and then stir in a few tablespoons of heavy cream. It blended beautifully with the cream and made a gorgeous texture. I also made a successful dairy-free and gluten-free version using high quality vegan cream cheese, coconut whipped cream in a can and gluten-free lady fingers. What a great recipe.

Just made this for a big Christmas Eve party tonight, I made two huge sheet pans (plus a small amount set aside for trying now) and it was awesome! And really easy too! Thank you 🙂

  43. 5 stars
I love this recipe. Today was the second time that I have made it. However something happened today and I couldn’t get my whipping cream to get to the soft peak stage and thicken up. I just said a little prayer and went with it. I hope that it eventually thickens up by the time I need it. (In a day and a half). If not I just won’t take the dessert to Christmas dinner! Thank you for this delicious recipe.

  44. 5 stars
Easy to follow directions, and a delicious result! This was my first attempt to make it, and it turned out great! I used 6 Tbsp instant espresso powder and mixed it with 1 1/2 cups of hot water, and then let it cool in the fridge.

  45. 5 stars
This works out every time. I have made Tiramisu using the egg yoke added method as well, and I actually think this way is just as good! Really easy and fail proof recipe. Always get so many great compliments when I make it. Just make sure to very lightly dip your ladyfingers so it’s not too wet.

  46. 4 stars
Followed the recipe to the tee. Kids love it since I made the coffee and Kahlua super subtle. I don’t like the idea of feeding children with raw eggs but used this even if Im lactose intolerant. 4 stars I gave because of the amount of dipping coffee that got wasted. Used the recipe 3x and made 4 n half cups of dipping coffee. I used the quick dip as described and it only used about a cup n half or less for 3 packs of Savoiardi. So went straight to the sink upon finishing. Recipe is ok. It doesn’t have that thick slightly eggy taste consistency. Its more of like same as fruit topped with whipped cream only its lady finger. This recipe is spot on for kids but if you’re an adult looking for the authentic taste then this is not it.

    1. If you were making the egg version, the eggs would be tempted(cooked and pasteurized) so they wouldn’t be raw.

  47. Absolutely delicious . I did modify it according to what I had at home, to avoid the cold, slippery weather outside, and used what was in my kitchen, and according also to my dietary needs & budget. So I used a block of generic brand cream cheese, instead of mascarpone, 2 cups (half a container) Great Value whipped topping, (low sugar) reduced quantity granular stevia ,instead of sugar, and Milano (Canadian brand) Italian giant soft lady fingers, needing only 1 packet of 12. I loved the soft texture of these biscuits , more economical than Savoiardi where I live.By using the stevia I could enjoy the sugar-sweetened Lady Fingers. The next time I will reduce the Starbucks coffee liqueur by a third as, after dunking the fingers, I had a lot of liquid left over. This dessert looks grand and is tart, not too sweet and goes a long way. I got 15 servings – heavenly.

  48. 5 stars
I made this for the first time. It came out fantastic! I’m going to make this a day or two ahead for Christmas Eve dessert.

  49. Hi! If we omit the alcohol in this, should we replace it with the espresso/liquid? Or just omit and move on?! 🙂 Many thanks!

  50. 4 stars
My only negative comment is how misleading the “fold in the mascarpone” step was. I left mine sit out for well over an hour to come to room temp and it did not fold in nicely. Lots of lumps which took a while to finally smooth out. Definitely blend this up before folding it into your whipping cream. Don’t follow the video procedure, it was misleading and unmanageable.

    1. 4 stars
I totally agree about folding in the mascarpone. I left mine out for hours at room temperature and it was still difficult to fold in and get the lumps out. Will definitely blend it up first before making again! Otherwise, this is a totally awesome recipe and everyone loved it at my dinner party last night!

      1. I just banged the mascarpone inti a dish of medium hot water for 5 , maybe 8 mins, to take the edge off fridge temp. Tipped into the mix and gave it a whizz or two with the mixer. No problem.

    2. If it helps anyone else, I just microwaved my mascarpone on defrost for 2 minutes. Then I switched the stand mixer from whisk to beater and beat it in at medium speed, worked great!

Mrs. Allen, I want my cream mixture to be at least 2″s tall, should I use 3 cups of whipping cream and 2 mascapones or 4.5 cups of whipping cream and 3 mascapones?

I’m looking for a 4 to 5″ 8×10 deep dish pan with lid. Last question, can I doubled layer the ladyfingers?
The 2nd time I made it, I could barely see or taste them. I would like to make it perfect this 3rd time with taste and presentation.

What do you think about putting some torani chocolate sauce in between each layers on top of the cream mixture for a more decadent taste?

  52. I would like to increase the recipe for a 9×13 pan to feed 12. Should I just adjust by increasing half of the original recipe?
    Thank you for your assistance!
    Graciously,
    Sara

Hello, I absolutely love your recipe. This is my new holiday dessert.

The 1st time I made it, I couldn’t find a deep dish 8×8 pan, therefore, the filling amount was too small because the pan was too large. Each delicious slice look like a brownie.

Also, the dessert wasn’t sweet enough. But it was still very delicious and only lasted for a few days.

The 2nd time I made it, I had too much filling but the sweetness was perfect.

I also added room temperature ganache on top of the cream mixture which was too much work for me but again, delicious.

Making again for Xmas. I hope 3 cups of heavy cream and 3 containers of mascapone will give me a nice tall filling like yours because I can’t find a 8×8 deep dish glass container.
    I would prefer a container with a lid. I found a 9×11.

I also added cocoa powder to the coffee/liqueur mixture and sugar.

I also added more sugar to the cream mixture. I had my husband taste it for sweetness and he loved it.

I will make it simple again for xmas by adding chocolate shavings on top of each layer of the cream mixture and final topping before I dust with cocoa powder. I also like vanilla and cake batter extract.

I want a decadent dessert. Do you have any addtl tips on how to make it more decadent?

Love, love, love this simple and easy dessert.

can I make a 3 tiered Tiramisu without it collapsing? Also, I made a 2 tiered with one sponge cake and 1 layer of Ladyfingers. really good.

    1. I was thinking of using a small springform and doubling the recipe. From your experience do you think that will work?

  56. 5 stars
This was amazing. I never realized there were eggs in tiramisu. I’m glad I found this recipe. I thoroughly enjoyed it! I used the Kaluha. I am not sure it made much of a difference but it was fun having it in there.

Sounds exactly what I want to serve for a finish to my Christmas dinner, but I don’t like
the taste of either of the two alcohols in the recipe. Any suggestions for any substitute?
    Thanks so much😊
    Rosalee

  58. I can’t seem to find the brand of ladyfingers you have used. What are the other brands that can be used? Also, please mention the quantity of ladyfingers to be instead. 1 package is vague. There can be different sizes of packages.

  59. If you wanted to make this leaving out the coffee flavor, would you suggest choc milk in place of expresso and choc liqueur in place of coffee liqueur?
    What would you suggest?
I have someone that dislikes coffee.

    1. Thank you for reaching out about the tiramisu recipe. Tiramisu traditionally centers around the rich flavor of coffee, which is a key ingredient in its unique taste profile. If someone in your group dislikes coffee, you might consider making a different dessert that better suits their preferences. However, if you’re set on tiramisu, you could try a mild cocoa solution as a substitute for espresso, though it will significantly alter the classic flavor. Keep in mind, this will result in a different dessert, but it can still be delicious in its own right and I’m positive they will love it and be grateful for your thoughtfulness! We would love to hear how it goes if you do end up trying it out.

    2. Pistachio tiramisu is fairly common in Italy as well. Some recipes still call for coffee to dip the lady fingers, but I’m sure you could substitute liqueur or Marsala. It might be worth checking out!

Second time using this recipe, the whip cream is so light and fluffy, my family enjoys it every time I make it. 🙂

Easy peasy & delicious! My 17 year old baker/chef granddaughter and I just made this for her Mom’s birthday. Yes, we taste tested … mmmmmm! So good, so simple, so much fun!

  62. 5 stars
So SO good! I was nervous to make tiramisu for the first time because I always assumed it was difficult. Not so! This was surprisingly easy and I couldn’t believe how yummy it was. I appreciate that this recipe doesn’t have eggs. I felt kinda off serving a no bake cake with egg in it – especially since someone who had a slice is pregnant. Really glad I found this recipe!

  63. 5 stars
I made a double batch in a deep 9×9 dish for my birthday. You were not kidding about not soaking the lady fingers! I may have gone a bit overboard, but it was still delicious and everyone went back for seconds. The marscapone/cream to lady finger/espresso was perfect.

Thank you so much for sharing this recipe!

  64. I made this for a group dinner and it was a hit! I heard some of the men say they had two pieces and some told their wife to get the recipe. The women thought it was delicious. You must try it!

I wanted to make tiramisu for my wine club since we were doing a Tour of Italy, but I was a little intimidated with recipes using eggs. I’m so glad I found this one. I watched your video and followed instructions. It was super easy. I used expresso power to make the coffee and Marsala wine since we would pair the tiramisu with it. The tiramisu was a big hit at wine club.

It gets better each time I make it! (truth be told, I just get more proficient. 💗) I was very nervous making tiramisu at home, but this recipe is easy to follow and delicious! This is my, “Go to” recipe for homemade tiramisu!

  67. 1 star
I was excited to make this as my partner loves tiramisu, however it was incredibly dry. I followed rye recipe and only dunked the sponge fingers in the coffee briefly, as a result the sponge fingers were still crunchy. Better to spend a bit longer making it and use a proper recipe!

    1. Hmmm I did the same quick dunk made it day before I needed it and nothing was crunchy….. maybe making the day before is more important than this recipe states

  68. 5 stars
This recipe is amazing. I would lessen the sugar a bit. And I would say you need more ladyfingers than stated.
When you double the recipe you need around 500g of lady fingers.

    1. 2 stars
Totally agree. A lot of coffee was left over because I followed the recipe exactly. All these people giving it 5 stars must have ignored the timings in the recipe and got better results because of that. No way is it 5 stars if you follow the recipe exactly.

    1. In theory yes but I would only do this in a pinch and definitely omit the sugar. It would be better with real cream by far!

  69. Delish and so easy without the egg yolks that are in the traditional Italian recipe. I subbed the liqueur with vanilla in the coffee and it worked out fine. Definitely keeping this in my recipe book!

  70. I mixed my cream too long, it turned into butter and I did not have enough lady fingers,,,I’ll try it again, I love this dessert

  71. 5 stars
This was a fantastic recipe. We used Vicenzi ladyfingers, BelGioioso mascarpone, and we did not include liqueur. The espresso was time consuming for us because we used our Breville espresso maker (using Lavazza beans). I’ve always wanted to make Tiramisu and this recipe made it very easy. Thanks, Lauren.

  72. Tiramisu is my favorite dessert, but I’ve never made it from scratch until tonight. I couldn’t believe how easy it was to make and it’s delicious!! I love this recipe and will definitely add this to my desset menu throughout the holiday season.

  73. 5 stars
Have made this several times and it’s always great. Could I double the recipe and make it in a 9 x 13 pan with success?

  74. 5 stars
My husband and I LOVE this recipe! We made it together the first time and I have made it a couple times since. We use the Savoiardi lady fingers (some of them have to go in sideways or get broken in half to fit them all), double strength coffee rather than espresso, and no liqueur. So delicious! Literally my only complaint is that it makes so much for two people, we shouldn’t eat it all but have no problem doing so. 🙂 I probably wouldn’t have attempted this recipe if it had raw eggs in it, so thank you for making tiramisu so approachable and easy.

  75. 5 stars
This recipe was dead easy. I found the liquid to be the perfect amount for the number of lady fingers. Be careful with the dipping….they really do suck it up quickly!
Thank you for this easy delicious recipe

  76. This was & is the Best recipe ever!!! I made it in June and making it again. Thank you for sharing🇨🇦

  77. 1 star
I’ve made tiramasu before with egg whites and I was shocked to make it with cream. It wasn’t the same fluffy consistency and I didn’t have enough for the layers. Switching to my original recipe.

  78. Hi. While mixing the mascarpone cheese in whipped cream, should it be at room temperature or straight from the fridge ?

  79. 4 stars
Way too much liquid was left over by the end of it. This after I dipped the sponge fingers in the liquid for several seconds. Some adjustment to the recipe is needed as I hate wasting coffee liquor like that.

    1. You can always drink the liquor, add to coffee, make a White Russian (Ukrainian), or save for another recipe in the fridge : )
I am about to try your recipe substituting Milano Double Dark Chocolate cookies for the Ladyfingers.I will separate the cookies and soak the non- Chocolate side in Kahlua or Meyer’s Rum. I use those two liquors in most of my desserts in addition to vanilla or as a substitute – never wasted!!

I replied before reading the comments so wanted to add that we used Goya lady fingers which are light crispy and dry. Our whipped cream was quite stiff before adding the mascarpone and we just folded it in until it was combined. Also, there is only 1/3 C. of sugar added to 1 1/2 C cream plus 1 C of mascarpone, definitely not over sweetened. It was light and creamy. In the end, we had about 1/3 cup of the cream mixture left over, which we saved to have with blackberries later. I prefer to have too much over too little. Thanks again for this great recipe.

My 13 year old daughter and I made this today and it is the real thing, only easier to make! It took 20 minutes to prepare and tasted delicious, just like the little Italian place down the street…if not better. This is a family keeper, better than birthday cake (and easier to make… Shhhh.)

  82. I made this yesterday for a birthday. My nephew “licked the bowl” and declared it delicious. My daughter, her boyfriend (the birthday boy), and my nephew just finished it off. It was a hit!! Thank you for such a simple, delicious recipe!

    1. Do you have a French press coffee maker?
I used 3 tblspns of espresso coffee to 1 1/2 cups water and it works well

    2. Walmart sells instant powdered expresso, or I’ve also made this with cold coffee – the coffee taste just isn’t as strong.

  83. 4 stars
This was an epic fail for me. Probably because I live in a small town in the middle of Wyoming and the only lady fingers I could find were in the bakery section. When I make it again, I will purchase 2 packages of spongy lady fingers and toast them slightly in the oven before I dip them. Whipped layers turned out great and the flavor of my strongly brewed K cups with the Kahlua was great. Operator error with the ladyfingers.

I brought it into the office and everyone loved it. Many people raved that it was the best tiramisu they’ve ever had.

    A few changes:
    – I’ve made the recipe a couple of times and since I’m based in Australia, I used the same cup measurements with an AU cup.
    – Instead of granulated white sugar, I used confectioner’s sugar instead.
    – I use Coles heavy thickened cream as heavy whipping cream isn’t readily available.
    – Since I don’t own an expresso machine, I used 2.5 tsps of instant coffee in 1.5 cups of water.

    Hope this helps 🙂

I’ve made tiramisu with egg whites several times, but was concerned my guests may be turned off by the idea of it on a hot summer day so I tried this recipe instead. I’m baffled by all the positive reviews. The recipe is terrible: too sweet, too much fat, none of the light, pleasant creaminess of tiramisu made with egg whites and mascarpone. I’m glad I put aside a small portion to try before serving it to guests, because I would be embarrassed to share it. Had to toss it all. All my ingredients were fresh and tasted well on their own, but I still ended up with a nauseating aftertaste after just two tablespoons of this so-called tiramisu.

  86. 5 stars
This was so easy and delicious. At first I was worried as when folding the marscapone into the cream I did not get the same fluffy consistency your video showed. Mine was creamy but liquidy. I am so glad I went forward and just hoped after chilling it would get the right texture. It did!
Thanks for this. Will make often.

  87. I have it chilling right now for a father’s day dessert! Tiramisu is one of my favourite desserts, had no idea it was so simple! I mixed a little espresso powder into the cocoa for fun! Super excited to taste it!

  88. 5 stars
This is amazing. My 7 year old daughter and I made this for Fathers Day and my husband said this was better than any restaurant’s (!) I always thought tiramisu was something for real chef’s. I always thought it was too fancy for me to attempt. This recipe is a game changer. Easy, tasty and impressive! love it, thank you!

  89. 5 stars
My favorite tiramisu recipe. So easy to make and so delicious! The kahlua is a must. I make this a few days before parties, and it is perfect every time.

  90. Easiest recipe to make and everyone loved it! Flavor is amazing and we added a bit of chocolate liqueur and amaretto which made it decadent!!

  91. 5 stars
This is a delicious, easy dessert. I made 2 and froze one. The frozen one was delicious 1 month later. Just as good as the fresh one.

  92. 5 stars
Made for the first time..:very very good and super easy. I added Remy Martin cognac, turned out great!

  93. 5 stars
One of the best and quickest recipes I’ve found. I used another recipe which everything was wrong but this is the perfect recipe. Thank you so much for your time.

  94. 4 stars
I love that you provided an eggless recipe! I made a little extra of the coffee/liqueur liquid and used three layers of cookies with three layers of cream. I also do a little cocoa powder on each layer of cream as well 🙂 Also, I used coffee flavored marscapone! It is easy, beautiful made in a glass dish and perfect with a glass of red and some friends!

  95. 5 stars
Awesome recipe ! We made it twice. This time I added just a couple more tablespoons of granulated sugar to the cream. Its so good!

  96. 5 stars
Excellent recipe and easy to follow. Used a electric mixer for the whipping cream to get it fluffy.

  97. 5 stars
I made this and it’s so easy! My Italian friend makes this and is an expert! Said mine was amazing!

  98. 5 stars
Made this got a group of ladies and they raved about it one of them is diabetic and told her that there’s only 1/3 cup of sugar and she was so pleased. It was so easy and so delicious!!! Thank you. Definitely making it again and again.

  99. I made this recipe for the first time a couple days ago. I served it to my friend who was impressed that I made it and hadn’t bought it. I shared it with my neighbors who all liked it also. It was easy to make, and I will be making it again.

  100. 5 stars
I just made this the other day. I used an espresso infused vodka for the alcohol, because I had a mini of that. I let it sit in the fridge overnight before trying it. It was very easy to make and incredibly tasty. I will definitely make this again!

  101. 5 stars
This recipe was soo easy to make… coming from someone who isnt good at baking at all… and it tastes soo good! I definitely recomend this recipe

  102. Looking for an eggless option for tiramisu and found this one. I haven’t tried it yet but wanted to respond to questions of too much cream layer and not enough servings. This recipe is very close to the recipe a friend sent to me when she lived in Naples, Italy
Her recipe specified 40 – 44 cookies which in the Delallo brand of 24 cookies per pkg I need 2 packages. Her recipe also specifies a 10x14x2 baking dish. I have used of course a 9×13 baking dish. I have made her recipe many times and I believe as some have stated that this will take care of the too thick of a cream layer and also not having enough servings.

  103. 5 stars
Made this exactly as recipe and it was great/
Second time I made it I used Pepperidge Farm dark chocolate Milano cookies …. My family and friends went crazy over it!!!

    1. 5 stars
I absolutely loved the filling. I attempted with lady fingers, home-made and store brought, but it never turned out right. I attempted cake versions as well. It turned out to be more of a coffee cake.

Finally, I did your filling and dipped chocolate Spanish cookies into coffee, and bam, a great tiramisu.

  104. 5 stars
Aahmazing!! This is 5++ star dessert. So easy to make and very delicious. Over the past weekend I made this for my daughter’s 17th birthday instead of a cake. Was a super hit! Did not change a single thing in the recipe. Even used the Kahlua! And I just made it again because the rest of my family complained they didn’t get enough. This is going to be a constant dessert for occasions and for “just cause”;)
Thanks for testing this recipe so that we didn’t have to:)

  105. 5 stars
10/10 dessert! Honestly better than I ever had and more cost effective than buying a $5-$10 slice somewhere. I did omit the liqueur because my 4 year old loves this cake, as well as used NESCAFÉ® CLÁSICO™ Dark Roast Instant Coffee instead of espresso. So easy to make! I definitely would recommend letting it set for about 24 hours for best texture!

    1. Having trouble finding the expresso. Thanks for the tip. Will definitely try this for our upcoming potluck.

  106. I like it, but I think the proportion of cookie/ cream mascarpone is a little oof, it seems is a little too much cream mix.

  107. Love this recipe as it eliminates the use of raw eggs with no sacrifice to flavor. It is also such a super easy and quick way to assemble the ingredients to yield such a luxurious dessert! Thank you for perfecting it!

  108. 5 stars
I wish I had known earlier how easy tiramisu can be to make! This is absolutely delicious. My husband made this with me and we’ve been having it for breakfast the last few days, it’s so good! A duster/shaker is a must — we learned the hard way that sprinkling cocoa powder with a spoon leaves very bitter little chunks of cocoa powder behind. Thank you for making this dessert so approachable!

  109. 4 stars
I think I might make this with three layers next time. The ladyfingers seemed overwhelmed by the marscapone/cream layer. Also: I needed two packages of ladyfingers. Maybe the recipe could be tweaked to specify the number of ladyfingers or the size of the package? The packages at my store were about 3.5 oz each.

  110. 5 stars
OMG this was fabulous! I LOVE Tiramisu its one of my most favorite desserts and i have always made it with the raw egg thing but i think THIS is my favorite way now and will do always THANK YOU !!

  111. 5 stars
Love this recipe and I subbed whipped topping for the heavy cream. I did double the recipe. From making tiramisu in the past the coffee flavor is always too strong for me so I added 1 cup water to the espresso and 1/3 cup sugar it was perfect amount for 9 x 13.

  112. 4 stars
I thought it needed a little more sweetness, but very good & very easy. I will be making again but sweetening my espresso a tad

  113. 5 stars
Made this recipe for the first time and it was absolutely amazing. My husband and I always order Tarimasu at our favorite Italian restaurant so for his birthday cake I decided to try this.
It was easy and well worth it. The hardest part for me was finding the marscapone. Now I know where to locate it in the grocery store. Plus had to go to 3 different stores to find the lady fingers. Its true that the flavors get better a few days later.
Ill be making this more often now. Thank you

  114. 5 stars
Great recipe. I use amaretto liqueur with the espresso and I always dump the crumbs/sugar from the ladyfinger package into the mixture.

  115. 5 stars
Great recipe. I love this method without egg and concise explanation. Thank very much for this amazing dessert. Love it.

    Shirley C

  116. I have made this recipe 3 times now, my family and I LOVE it. It is light, fluffy yet creamy. I use decaf coffee and no alcohol. It takes me less than 20min, and I don’t make a mess in the kitchen (it’s so simple!). The hard lady fingers I find at Ralph’s or on Amazon.

  117. I don’t have espresso coffee in the house. If I buy espresso powder, what is the ratio to use for this recipe? It is just the perfect cake for a party I’m hosting for my son. I do have a good Brazilian coffee – would that work? Thanks!!!

    1. Yes, you can use espresso powder. Mix the correct ratio in with water (use the instructions on the packaging).

      1. How do you make 1.5 cups of espresso? My express only makes shots that would be a lot of expense. Can I use expresso powder and make in coffee maker? How many tablespoons of expresso then?

        1. Most groceries stores sell instant espresso in the baking aisle. Dellallo Instant Espresso powder is what I use, you can use google shopping to looks up what stores carry it locally.

        2. The espresso powder I own says mix 1 tsp espresso powder to 6 oz of water. So for this recipe I used 2 tsps espresso powder to 12 oz of water which equals 1.5 cups of espresso after mixed.

  118. 5 stars
Easy to follow instructions! Loved that this recipe was so easy to put together ! Looked and tasted great 🙂

  119. 5 stars
This is such a great recipe! It’s made ahead of time, so no last minutes in the kitchen. It’s easy to put together and I love that it has no raw eggs. I dipped the lady fingers in strong decaf coffee with Kahlua.
    People raved about it.

  120. 5 stars
I’ve made a few different tiramisu recipes and this is by far the best all around recipe. It’s delicious and bonus(!) it’s super easy!!!

    1. 5 stars
I’ve made this so many times I can’t count. It’s not only the easiest recipe I’ve found but it’s the best. It rivals tiramisu that I’ve had in Italy. It’s light and delicious. Guests are always so impressed that I made it.

  121. 5 stars
Thank you for this great recipe! Easy to make and absolutely delicious. I made it for Christmas; made a double batch again today as dessert for a dinner I’m hosting tomorrow. Reminds me of my Italian mom’s recipe…a keeper!

  122. 5 stars
FANTASTIC!!! Made the Tiramisu for Thanksgiving dessert along with my brothers pumpkin pie.. nobody touched the pie, lol…but the Tiramisu got RAVE reviews!!! Thank you so much for sharing this ❤️
Gonna make it again for Christmas 🎄 Eve.. perfection..mmm

  123. I just have a concern…

One person noted that their tiramisu was “soggy” after freezing. Is this common. Should making it ahead and freezing be avoided? Or, is there something that can be done to prevent it from getting soggy?

  124. 5 stars
OMG! This is absolutely delicious! My family went ga-ga over it. I will definitely make it again. The only thing I had to do was make sure that the bowl I was whipping the cream in was cold.Love this!

  125. Could you please say about how many ladyfingers your recipe calls for? I have a severe wheat allergy so need gluten free, and the Schar brand has really nice gluten free ladyfingers which I want to use with your recipe, thanks!

    1. The brand I buy has two packages of 12 but sizes may vary! Just make sure you have enough for a two layers!

  126. 4 stars
Have made this recipe a few times now.
Is great fresh but tends to go soggy when defrosted.
I replace the coffee liqueur with vanilla tia Maria and I’ve made with coffee rum which also tastes great.
I add sugar, cream and vanilla – then whisk as no reason to seperate prior to whisking which saves half a step in the method.

  127. 5 stars
Really tasty! Easy to make! I made it keto with almond flour poppyseed cake and monkfruit sweetener. Thank you Lauren!

    1. Homemade whipping cream is not greasy or thick. It sounds to me like you overwhipped your cream. You can fix it by slowly whisking in cold whipped cream.

      1. Dylan I never tried it with whipping cream, I use 1 – 8 oz. room temperature cream cheese with 1 container of Mascarpone cheese. If I double the recipe I use 2 of each, and 1 tbsp. grated lemon zest or 1 tbsp. lemon juice. Also many times I use dark rum for a little kick (for adults only) and I have to make one just for kids without alcohol. I made Tiramisu for years and my family and everyone who taste it want me to make it for them and asks the recipe. Hope you make it with cream cheese, you will love it! Hope it helps. Merry Christmas and a Blessed and Peaceful Happy New Year!

    2. Definitely sounds like you’ve whipped the cream into butter!

I’ve made this recipe countless times and it’s perfect.

  128. Recipe calls for way too much espresso. I used less than half of what it called for, which was annoying because I brewed my own espresso.

  129. I have made this a few times and is always a hit. I can never find the lady fingers, so I improvised and made a pound cake, sliced it and drizzled the coffee kalua mixture over each layer. It is so good.

    1. If you google Savoiardi biscuits it should show you where you can buy them near you.
I buy mine at coles or Woolworth as they always have them.

  130. This was fast and easy to make :). Was delicious and definitely a keeper! Will be one of my desserts for Thanksgiving as well!! Thanks again!

  131. 5 stars
Loved the recipe. It is much easier and quicker than traditional tiramisu. Just an FYI though, you can still use raw eggs to make traditional tiramisu if you buy pasteurized eggs… which I do when I need to use raw eggs… like in eggnog.

  132. 2 stars
It was good but this isn’t tiramisu the filling is whip cream and cheese it doesn’t set nicely. It was still good but just not what I wanted when making tiramisu. I will try for a more traditional one next time.

  133. 4 stars
Although the recipe is delicious, it doesn’t have enough of the cream filling. For an authentic tiramisu, you should definitely double if not triple the amount of cream/mascarpone mixture required. I went to the store 3 times because I kept needing to get more!

Also, you only need half a pack of ladyfingers for this 9-person serving.

  134. 2 stars
I was SO disappointed with the results of this recipe. I adore Tiramisu and have eaten many delicious ones at restaurants. This recipe lacked the flavor of espresso and kahlua that I was hoping for. Should call for an extra strong cup of espresso, maybe? And the directions say to mix marscapone and cream until just combined. That left me with small chunks of marscapone in every bite – not delicious. I would double the sugar and espresso and kahlua if you want to give this recipe a try at all. A lot of money going down the garbage disposal 🙁

  135. Its delicious been a long day of work prepping this for group dinner tomorrow evenin at first directions was gettin jumbled in my head(as noticed in last comment) But it taste amazing cant wait for the group tomorrow evenin to try it.

  136. 5 stars
Awesome and easy. Made with my son we both loved it. I would probably recommend waiting for it to set properly at least a day longer even. Maybe can freeze it?

  137. 5 stars
My family always orders tiramisu when we go out to eat. My son was visiting and said he was trying to find the best tiramisu that he could. I made this recipe and they all liked it. Definitely a keeper

  138. If you use 2x or 3x the ingredients, would you use a larger pan?
    I need enough for 15.

Also, do you buy the express coffee at a coffee shop?

Would young children be able to have it with the expression? No liquor.

  139. Please include the size cookie package vs just saying 1 package. They come in different size packages. I had a lot of lady fingers leftover because I had to order online. Otherwise recipe easy and delicious!

  140. I couldn’t find lady fingers so I used Nilla wafers. For the liqueur addition to the coffee, I had RumChata, so I used that. For my little twist, I added some shaved chocolate to the heavy whipping cream. Each component was amazing but where I think I fell short was I used a single layer of Nilla wafers for each layer and looking back I should have done double layers because my dessert was pretty thin. It tasted great but everyone wanted a little more. I did make it the day before and that was definitely a plus. This recipe was a win regardless, for our Italian theme!

  141. 5 stars
My fiance made this recipe to take for a potluck and everyone absolutely loved it. There was not a spoonful left. My fiance wanted to line the pan he used around the edges as well as in the middle, so he used two packs of lady fingers. He used a springform pan so when it came to presenting the final dessert, he took the outside spring part off and the dessert held up perfectly!

  142. 4 stars
This recipe is so simple and easy! I made it for my dad’s birthday. My mom and I are going to make it again this weekend but double the vanilla, and we think Amaretto would be a fun flavor instead of Kahlua (we love both). I’m also going to try subbing low-fat cream cheese to make it more budget and waistline-friendly. I’ll let you know how the adaptations work out! Also, I made it the night before and it was even better the day after, like you said! So yummy! Thanks for a great recipe!

  143. 5 stars
So delicious. My husbands favorite dessert is tiramisu and instead of getting it at a bakery or grocery store I thought I’d try to make it at home. He absolutely loved this recipe! I’ve made it multiple times now and will make again and again. The recipe is super easy to follow and put together.

  144. Fantastic recipe, I didn’t think i’d like this recipe because I like the egg version, but I was wrong!

    The changes I made:
250g cream cheese (instead of mascarpone)
307g regular cream and 50g butter (if you don’t have heavy cream)
ONLY 1/4 c sugar otherwise too sweet

I melted the butter and sugar together and added this to the room temp cream cheese then use electric mixer.

  145. 5 stars
Made some previously from another recipe and it was so large we were sick of it before we could finish it. This recipe was really good and easy! Just enough.

  146. 3 stars
Easy recipe to follow and make but too sweet for my liking, and I used a strong espresso. The sweetness of the cream did not balance out this dessert! Will try again but will definitely cut the amount of sugar. To each their own I guess. Thanks for sharing!

  147. 5 stars
I really wanted a quick way to use up the ingredients I had, but if you’re a die-hard tiramisu fan, the whip cream method simply doesn’t compare with the more custard style texture of the egg method. Still, an ok substitute.

  148. I have instant espresso coffee – how much should I add to 1.5 cups of water to get the right flavour?

  149. I am coming up with a 7 course menu to share with a group of 50 or so for a book signing (a novel). Would it be possible to share this recipe with the group? If yes, how would you want to be credited? Thank you!

    1. Hi Debbie–thanks for asking! Yes, you can print it from my website, which will include my website information when you print it out. Thanks!

  150. 5 stars
This recipe is a keeper! Have made it a bunch of times over the years for friends and family and everyone has loved it. I’ve used coffee liqueur, brandy, and rum—with the latter two being my favorites as I think they make the flavor more interesting. This is just as good, maybe even better, than some tiramisus I’ve had in Italy.

  151. I don’t understand.
The website is called Tastes Better From Scratch, yet, the recipe uses store bought lady fingers?!?

    1. I don’t have my ladyfingers recipe published on the website yet, but hope to soon! (And i’ll still leave the store-bought option for the majority of people who will want it).

    2. This is like saying “the website is called tastes better from scratch but you didn’t milk your own cow and roast your own coffee beans” It’s an ingredient, dude.

  152. 5 stars
Really enjoyed this recipe, first time making Tiramisu, and this recipe was very easy to make, I did have to substitute the mascarpone with cream cheese, and I didn’t use the liqueur. But it still turned out amazing.

  153. Some truly nice and useful info on this website, besides I think the design has got fantastic features.

  154. Absolutely delicious. Did not miss the eggs. Easy to make and perfect consistency. I substituted Schar gluten free ladyfingers and substituted the sugar for monk fruit/erythritol sugar substitute – worked great.

  155. 4 stars
Great, easy to follow instructions. You’ll need more than one package of lady fingers if your package is 3 ounces like mine was. You’ll need at least 6 ounces or there aren’t nearly enough!

    1. Mine was the same. I got really upset. I watched the video then and you probably made same mistake as I did by adding cheese to the cream and mixing it with an electric mixer instead of just doing it with a spoon 🙁

      1. I mixed the mascarpone in with the heavy cream using a electric mixture and had no issue with extra water. I whipped the heavy cream well before adding and added the mascarpone in a few spoonfuls at a time.

  156. what other cookie could i use as an alternative? I am going to try this soon and the Lady Fingers are too expensive.

    1. I used Nilla Wafers! I used one layer of Nilla wafers per layer, and I wish I would have used 2 layers of cookies per layer as my dessert was thin. It tasted really good though, just slight.

  157. 5 stars
Lauren, this is best homemade tiramisu I have ever tried to make. My guests thought so too. My only variant from you recipe, was that I added a layer of whipped cream on the top and then dusted with cocoa powder. This dessert is light, fluffy and flavorful! Thank you so much for sharing.

  158. 5 stars
Great recipe. I am one of those people who are afraid to use raw egg. I’ve tasted numerous tiramisu, can’t really distinguish which is made with egg. I like that I can make this without egg-handling. It’s really good.

  159. 1 star
hershey’s coco? no egg? store bought cake? how the hell did did get any stars at all.
just go buy a storebought one if you are dis desperate.

    1. Mike Calvin, what recipe are you reading? This is tiramisu made with Lady fingers not tiramisu cake. Which, by the way, I’ve made the cake with a cake mix and it’s always a big hit.

Also… There are more decent ways to be critical. Remember not all people looking at online recipes are pro’s such as yourself. A cake mix sends them on their way to confidence in trying a full cake recipe.
As long as no one ask “how the hell” they made it.

    2. Mike Calvin, you are so rude. This recipe is clearly said it’s for people who don’t want raw egg and a quick recipe. If you want to make everything from scratch, go bake your own lady fingers. What is there to be so snarky for?

    3. What a negative and needless comment. You must live a very depressed life to be so hateful and mean. Obviously there are many people responding that loved it. If you don’t like the recipe or don’t want to make it just keep on scrolling on to something you like better.

This was definitely easy, but not the same as with an egg based sabayon custard. Lost some of the mascarpone flavor in the cream. I prefer the lightness of the egg whites.
I usually cut down on sugar in recipes but found this one needs more.

But if you want easy, this is certainly a drastic improvement in time commitment.

  161. 5 stars
Easy. Thanks, made at 10:30 cold night to have ready for tomorrow..had all ingredients … looking forward to tasting

  162. I made this! I used 3/4 cups of both heavy whipping cream and mascarpone (and thus reduced the sugar to 1/4 cup) and that was plenty for me. I added the cream, sugar, and vanilla first and just beat it till it was combined and the cream was halfway whipped. Then I added the 3/4 cup of mascarpone and whipped until stiff peaks formed. I had 12 ladyfingers in one pack. I also didn’t fill up a bowl with the espresso (didn’t want to waste any), I just poured a bit in a shallow plate and spooned some onto the ladyfingers till everything was covered. I chilled the tiramisu for 3-4 hrs., and I will say that this is the most authentic tiramisu I’ve had! I made it for my brother’s birthday and it was a hit.

  163. 5 stars
Great recipe! Used Sonoma Syrup Co. vanilla hazelnut simple syrup to flavor the espresso and left out the alcohol. Delicious.

  164. 5 stars
Very easy and goes together quickly for the chill time. The was not a bit let on any plate. This is a keeper.

  165. 5 stars
I haven’t even eaten it yet but everything went great and tasted good in its parts. I used Bourbon because I live in Kentucky! And cacao liquor with espresso! That tasted good. The marscopone and cream was awesome! It will be a nice treat at Italian themed NYE gathering of triple vaccinated family! Only 7 people so I made the original size! Fit great in Staub 9×6 ! Looks amazing and so easy! Left over coffee mix I made into a small iced coffee! Yum! This is a keeper!! Thanks Lauren!

    1. Ohhhh, making one for work and now one for home. Gonna soak those ladies in that bourbon! Thank you for the idea. My husband will love that!

  166. 5 stars
This was incredibly delicious and very easy to make at home! I didn’t have coffee liqueur, only made half the amount of espresso and it was still fantastic! Thank you for this recipe Lauren!

  167. Thewhipped cream marscapone takes deliious. I will assume the finished product will also.
Thanks for the easy recipe, don’t like making Sabayon.

  168. This is such an easy recipe and it is now my go-to recipe when entertaining. It freezes so well, which means I can make it well before any event.

  169. 5 stars
Hi Lauren – I’m really looking forward to making your Tiramisu. Sounds delicious and I love the fact that it’s easy to put together. Two questions though: (1) does the Marscapone get beaten into the whipping cream with the whisk attachment used to beat cream? and (2) should doubling the recipe make enough for a 9×13 pan? Thanks for your input.

    1. 5 stars
This is the second time I’ve made this recipe. It is so good. To answer Anne’s first question, I did beat the marscapone with the whipped cream. It worked perfectly.

  170. I am planning on making this for Christmas and decided to give it a test run before serving it to guests. I followed the recipe pretty much exactly. The only change was that I found I needed more than one package of ladyfingers for my 8×8 dish (companies make different size ladyfingers, so it’s safe to buy more than what you think you might need). Also, I used room temperature decaf coffee and Frangelico hazelnut liquor instead of coffee flavored liquor.

It turned out pretty good! Smooth, light, not too sweet, you can taste the coffee but it’s not overwhelming. It setted well too. I don’t think I will make any changes. It was surprisingly easy and fun to make. In the future, I will try to make a gluten and dairy free version using Schar ladyfingers and coconut whipping cream! Thanks for the recipe!

  171. Planning on making this for an Italian dinner party tomorrow. Any recommendations on what store-bought cold espresso to use? Thanks!

  172. 5 stars
Thank you so much for putting this recipe out there for people to enjoy!!! So easy, not many ingredients and the taste is phenomenal!! Don’t be afraid to put lots of cocoa on top! Had Italian for thanksgiving and everyone loved the dessert ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

  173. 5 stars
Just made this a second time and it’s the fridge settling as we speak. So good, and so easy, better than store bought! I added a little extra sugar this time and another tsp of vanilla, since I had no kaluha or amaretto. Tasted amazing on the spoon!

  174. 5 stars
Made this easy recipe for tiramisu last nite and served it today! It was a huge hit with my husband who doesn’t normally like anything ‘coffee’. The texture is creamy and smooth and the taste and flavor of everything melded together is simply delicious without being too overly sweet. For those that might be hesitant to try this — you have to make it — I guarantee you won’t be disappointed. Thank you for sharing this great recipe. I am glad I made it!

  175. 5 stars
This is AMAZING! So simple and easy. It doesn’t take a master chef to make this. Ingredients are easy to work with. She is 100% correct in saying that this recipe is much more simple than the traditional tiramisu recipe, but without sacrificing flavor. It’s delicious and refreshing. Tastes extremely similar to any tiramisu I’ve ever had in any restaurant!

  176. Can I can use Cuban coffee for the espresso? If so, should I keep or omit the sugar that is normally added to Cuban coffee?

  177. Damn !! this recipe was relatively easy. Don’t oversoak your lady fingers. I did. Learned from my mistake. Easy and delish !!

  178. 5 stars
Thanks for sharing. My Husband cannot get enough of this. In the last two weeks I have made it twice. This recipe is very easy.

  179. 5 stars
I made this for my daughter’s birthday and she and my 4 and 6 year old grandkids loved it. She said it’s better than the one at a popular Italian chain restaurant! Very easy to make and firmed up nicely in the fridge overnight. Will definitely go on my go-to list of desserts!

  180. 5 stars
That should’ve been five stars not three stars this has been the best one so far that I have tried I did add a little bit of Kahlúa and rum extract just to give it a little kick it so far kudos to you you did a very good job not using raw eggs

  181. 5 stars
Delicious!!! Tiramisu is my husband’s favorite dessert and he’s very particular about its quality and flavor so I was hesitant to try to make it for him for Father’s Day but decided to give it a try. Our kids (4 & 6) and I made this recipe and I found it ridiculously easy to make. They did most of the work actually. Needless to say, my husband loved it and says it’s better than the one from our favorite restaurant. Now he wants it for his upcoming birthday instead of the traditional birthday cake. Thanks for sharing!

      1. 5 stars
I have used Cool Whip with excellent results. If you have no objections to Dairy, I recommend the “Extra Creamy” variety. I always make this gluten fee by using Schar brand Gluten Free Ladyfingers.

  182. 5 stars
So delicious! I added some rum extract and I used butter cake instead of lady fingers and I hope it will be as yummy as it looks!

  183. What can you use instead of alcohol liquor? Is there a non alcohol option or should I just omit it?

    Thank you

  184. I make this for special occasions in my family for a anniversary or a big birthday. I make this for my wedding anniversary every year. My family absolutely loves this tiramisu.

  185. 5 stars
Delicious & easy! I would have bought tiramisu, but wanted it decaffeinated. Now I’ll make this a lot! I would like to know whether the calorific value of 383kcal is per 100g or per portion (what size) or per 1/8 of recipe. I can’t find this information on your website.
Thank you very much, what a brilliant recipe!

  186. My daughter loves tiramisu so I made this for her “birthday cake”. It was a hit. Will definitely make again. Maybe add a bit more Kahlua.

  187. I tripled the recipe and made three layers in my mom’s giant cut glass punch bowl: one quart cream, 24 ounces of marscapone and 78 lady fingers. It was fabulous and the only birthday “cake” I ever got high on.

  188. 5 stars
Correcting my rating to a 5 star. The measurement information did not show up for me until after I left my previous rating. This is definitely a great recipe!

  189. Next time I may only use 1 cup whipping cream. I love whipped cream but it was a little much even for me. Other than that, easy and delish.

  190. 5 stars
Oh, delicious, rich, creamy and boozy. Added a bit extra coffee liqueur but decreased sugar by a bit. Great recipe will make it again.

  191. 5 stars
This is exactly the way I’ve always it and it is fabulous! Eliminating the eggs does not make it any less decadent!

  192. 5 stars
I just had some it was so good but want the reciipe to stay on my phone I live on New Bern, N.C. 28562Linfa

  193. 4 stars
Super easy recipe, but you need to soak the ladyfingers longer or the tiramisu tastes more like a cake.

  194. 4 stars
Easy to make but it calls for way too much espresso! I had at least half left over after dipping the ladyfingers anyway can’t wait to dig into it, it’s chilling in the refrigerator as we speak

  195. 5 stars
This was my first attempt ever at Tirimisu. Your recipe is perfect. I doubled everything for a 9 x 13 pan and had just the exact amount of cream, espresso, and cookies + 2 for my enjoyment. Serving tonight for my daughter’s birthday. I know it will be a hit. Thanks

  196. 5 stars
Everyone in my house loved it. It was super easy to make. We are gluten free so I just GF ladyfingers. Absolutely will be making again.

  197. 4 stars
This is an easy and delicious recipe BUT..
I sure wish people would be more accurate on the prep time. This took me about 20-25 minutes total time to get everything together, mix together and put together. So, this won’t be done in 10 minutes!

  198. 5 stars
I made this two days ago. It was delicious! Everyone loved it. And it was extremely easy to make (I used strong decaf coffee and Kahlua). Thanks for the recipe! It’s a keeper!!

  199. 5 stars
A new family favorite!!! This is going in my five star recipe file!. Flavorful but light and not too filling. We made it with just a dusting of cocoa powder and added bittersweet chocolate shavings and a chocolate covered espresso bean on top. OH MY GOD GOOD! It was even better the second day! (And I don’t like coffee or espresso!)

  200. 2 stars
I think my two stars is less about the quality of the recipe and more about my new realization that tiramisu just doesn’t do it for me. There was nothing about this that I enjoyed. It was easy and I wanted to like it, but I doubt I’ll ever be a fan.

    1. I think this is unfair, if you don’t like tiramisu hit two stars on your own taste, don’t damage her rating because of your personal reasons…

    2. 5 stars
Why would you rate the recipe if you don’t like tiramisu? That has nothing to do with the recipe. Completely irrelevant and stupid to rate it in the first place.

  201. 5 stars
Super yummy and easy to make! I added a shot of rum to theKahlua. My husband never compliments my cooking( he’s a man of few wordsJ…He said it was excellent!!!

  202. 5 stars
Thanks, Lauren for sharing the wonderful Tiramisu recipe. We made it on Christmas day (my 12 year old made it). It was that simple. We don’t consume eggs and hence this recipe was perfect. I didn’t had espresso coffee, so we just made a strong batch of Nescafe black coffee and used that for dipping the ladyfingers.
This recipe is a keeper in our household now.

  203. 5 stars
Amazingly easy, quick, and delicious….a hit with the family. I used confectioners sugar and instant espresso coffee and no alcohol. Thanks for the recipe!

  204. I’ve made this several times, I’m making it for Christmas (my Son in-laws request) I use amaretto, and I use mascarpone Excellent!!!!!!

  205. I am making a seven fish mini feast fir Christmas Eve and I can’t wait to try this tiramisu recipe! I know it will be fabulous because your other recipes have worked out amazingly!!! You have my complete trust! Thank you for sharing.

  206. My local store never had lady fingers so I substitute with slices of angel food cake and I lightly brush them with coffee. It turns out delicious!

  207. 5 stars
My first time making tiramisu a d this recipe made it easy and fun. The end product was delicious. This will definitely be my go to dessert. Thank you!

  208. 5 stars
I’ve made this several times for my daughter who is gluten intolerant. I found gluten free Lady Fingers at our local grocery store and I replace regular sugar with coconut sugar. It’s her favorite dessert! She would rather have this dessert for Thanksgiving than pumpkin pie! Thank you for sharing this recipe!

  209. Can you use powdered sugar instead of regular sugar? I find it keeps the whip cream from getting runny in other recipes.

    Thanks,

    Gail

  210. 5 stars
I have made this several times, and it if fabulous. I use Kahlua plus the coffee to dip the lady fingers. It is my husband favorite.

  211. 5 stars
I couldn’t find lady fingers in my neighborhood.I kept thinking what else I could use and 2 days later TADDA , Stella D’oro margherite fingers and following your recipe I had my delicious tiramisu.Thank you.

  212. 5 stars
This is a great and easy recipe. Like the whipped cream instead of the traditional egg mixture. I did add a couple tablespoons of rum to the coffee mix for the added flavor but not needed. I’ve tried this recipe with a cream cheese substitute for the mascarpone. Found the substitute okay but a bit more “cheesecake” like.

  213. 5 stars
Awesome recipe! Written down in my recipe journal already.
I’m making this for my girlfriend…
    Thank you so much!

  214. I can’t wait to make this. Grateful to have found a recipe not using raw eggs, simply because I can’t seem to make a decent meringue!!

  215. 5 stars
The simplest tiramisu recipe I have ever tried AND I have tried many.
Made this twice in the past 3 weeks with Grand Marnier… perfect both times!

  216. 5 stars
Was a hit with our guests. Easy recipe to follow and the outcome was delicious. I used Tia Maria liquor in my dessert and it turned out really good. Thank you for sharing. Will definitely be using this again

  217. 5 stars
Very delicious!!!! Easy to follow recipe and turned out great. It had the right amount of sweetness and texture to it. Served it to my family and friends and received a lot of compliments:-)

  218. 5 stars
Excellent recipe. I used coffee liquor. This recipe was easy and the taste was wonderful. I will soak the lady fingers just a little more. The ladyfingers were a little hard. Best recipe!!

  219. Turned out great! Thank you for the recipe. I did not have expresso and so I just used brewed coffee. So easy and delicious.

  220. Having trouble finding ladyfingers right now. Can you use Sfogliatine glazed puff instead? They look similar. But I’m not sure if it will affect the recipe.
    Thanks

  221. 5 stars
Sounds like a great and easy pudding. Thank you. Especially like the idea of freezing it for later!

  222. Could you possibly convert this to UK measurements for me, want to try it but worried it might go wrong if I don’t convert the amounts properly.

Look forward to hearing from you.

  223. 5 stars
My boyfriend loves tiramisu so I decided to make it for his family. Stumbled upon this quick and easy recipe and it was a hit! The cream is light and fluffy, not too sweet. They loved it. Will definitely be using this recipe again in the future.

  224. 5 stars
This was super good! I used canned whipped cream because I did not want to whip my own. I used about 3 cups of canned whipped cream and did not add any sugar (as the canned whipped cream has sugar already). I must have dipped the cookies for too long because the dessert was a bit liquidy when we ate it. With the leftovers, I ate it frozen and it was delicious! Like a coffee ice cream cake. I will make this again!

  225. I haven’t tried this but will. I am desperate to find a Strawberry Tiramisu recipe. My fiancé had it in Italy years ago, still talks about it constantly and I would love to surprise him with this.

  226. Just made this yesterday and tried it this morning!

It was delicious! Thank you for the recipe 🙂

  227. 5 stars
Thank you for a great recipe Lauren! I tried making the original tiramisu before but wasn’t a success and turned out soggy! So I tried this recipe and it was absolutely amazing! Just perfect! Definitely a keep!

  228. 5 stars
Thank you! We had our family Sunday dinner theme “The tour of Italy” so Tiramisu just had to be the dessert. I looked at so many recipes. Everyone and I mean everyone kids included liked this recipe. This will be the one I fix for now on. Thank you!

  229. 5 stars
Love the quick and easy recipe. Although I switched out the granulated sugar for monk fruit my husband who is a diabetic tiramisu monster loved it! In

  230. 5 stars
BEST TIRAMISU EVER! This is may favorite dessert and I’ve tried many at different restaurants and cafes. By far, this is the most delicious one (and I couldn’t believe I made it myself!) Even my daughter asked me when she took the first bite “are you kidding me?” This recipe is just perfect!

  231. If you have a Trader Joe’s near you, they sell containers of mascarpone from much less than standard supermarkets.

  232. Hi. This was perfect in every way. I made the Tiramisu lastnight and it is this mornings ” Sweet treat with Breakfast” for my kids. Our end of the week ritual, lol!!!. They loved it, and I too. No alcohol, I opted for pure Almond extract instead. Greetings from Montreal.

  233. 5 stars
Soooo GOOD & soooo EASY! I’ve tried a few Tiramisu recipes and this one is by far the best and easiest to make!! My new go to dessert! Thank you!!

  234. 5 stars
Absolutely amazing, I made a double batch my first time so I could take it to work. Hands down the best Tiramisu ever. I will definitely make it again.

    1. It’s super easy to make marscapone cheese! And cheaper than buying it in a store! Just heavy cream and a little lemon juice heated on your stove. Then strained. I make my own for cannoli cream puffs and Tiramisu and it’s yummy every time. Just google it for the full instructions 😋

    2. 5 stars
Whipped cream cheese will be a touch saltier than mascarpone, but the texture will be about right; just add a little extra sugar to taste. It comes in small tubs like whipped butter. If your local grocery stores don’t carry mascarpone (and can’t order some for you), the cream cheese will work okay.

  235. Hi I saw this recipe doesn’t have eggs in it. Does it look and taste the same as the traditional ones that do?
    Thanks

  236. 5 stars
This was a hit last time I made it. My husband and I may or may not have eaten the entire pan! Nobody was watching right?! Made it again today for an Easter dessert. So easy. So yummy.

  237. 5 stars
Super easy to make once you find the lady fingers in our local markets but other than that was easy to put together, had fun brewing in my old percolator the espresso. Well worth the time and effort.

  238. 5 stars
Absolutely delicious and super easy. I was always intimidated by the thought of making one, but this is a super, easy, delicious recipe! You will wonder why you waited so long!

  239. 4 stars
Easy-peasy and delicious. I used a shallow loaf pan, and ended up with extra ingredients, so I filled a couple clear dessert glasses; looked very classy.

  240. Do you have to put it in a pan or can you assemble freely? I am gifting it and would like it to look nice but won’t be getting the pan back.

    1. Hi Jen,
If you are giving them away, I would suggest making them in a disposable aluminum or plastic container! I love to get mine at the dollar store!

  241. 5 stars
Wow, this recipe is so very easy, as the recipe stated. I did a small taste test last night after making it, and can’t wait to share it tonight at my family game night. It’s going to be a hit. Thank you.

  242. I made this today and I have to tell you this is one of those recipes that could be dangerous! It is so simple and sooooooo incredibly good that I can see making it…a lot! Thanks!

    1. Yay! That was my goal (not the “dangerous” part, but the “simple and incredibly good” part 😉 Thanks for sharing!

  243. Wowowowow! You just took away all my tiramisu making fears. Your approach is so simple and produces an absolutely beautiful cake. Cannot wait to dig into this one.
