This easy Strawberry Lemonade recipe is my kid’s favorite summer drink. It’s homemade and requires just four basic ingredients!

Out of all of the homemade drink recipes on my site, this lemonade recipe may be my personal favorite! My kids love to help me make it and squeeze the lemons. They also love helping me make Sparkling Mint Limeade and Easy Orange Julius.

Strawberry Lemonade

Many people grow up drinking powdered drinks.  You know, like powdered lemonade, crystal light, or tang? If these are the sort of drinks you are used to, this homemade strawberry lemonade is going to knock your socks off! It’s so fresh and delicious!

The best part of this homemade lemonade recipe is how easy it is to make.  You can even freeze the simple syrup and fresh-squeezed lemon juice so that making homemade lemonade is easy any time of year.

Strawberry Lemonade Ingredients:

The ingredients for homemade lemonade couldn’t be simpler! You can make lemonade with the following 4 ingredients:

  • Strawberries: Hull ½ lb of strawberries (cut the green stem off), and toss them in your food processor.
  • Lemons: Fresh lemons are essential for this recipe to get that great fresh-squeezed lemonade taste. Depending on the size of your lemons, you will need between 6-8 medium size lemons to get 1 ½ cups of lemon juice for this recipe.
  • Sugar: White granulated sugar gets dissolved in water to create a simple syrup.
  • Water: How much water you add depends on how sweet you like your lemonade.

How to make Strawberry Lemonade:
  • Puree the strawberries. Use a blender or food processor to puree the strawberries. Strain them through a fine mesh sieve to remove seeds, if you want.
  • Make a simple syrup. Add sugar and 2 cups of water to a saucepan. Bring to a simmer and stir until sugar is dissolved.  Remove from heat and cool to room temperature.
  • Juice your lemons. Strain the lemon juice through a fine mesh sieve into a pitcher.
  • Combine syrup, lemon juice, and pureed strawberries. Stir to combine.
  • Chill.

Can you freeze fresh lemonade?

Yes! You can freeze the lemon juice concentrate from this recipe and save it to make homemade lemonade, any time. Mix the cooled simple syrup, fresh squeezed lemon juice, and pureed strawberries together. Pour into a freezer bag and freeze for up to 5 months.

When ready to use, allow the mixture to thaw and add it to a pitcher. Add water, to taste, until you reach your desired sweetness.

Exactly how I remember it tasting in restaurants when I got them. I only used 4 cups total with a touch extra fresh squeezed lemon juice, so it was extra lemony

  2. This was good but i would recommend instead of using puree strawberries, i used homemade strawberry syrup! The pitcher was gone in less than an hour!!!

  3. 4 stars
Very good but way too sweet! I added more water and still too sweet. Will use less sugar next time.

  4. Absolutely perfect! Just what I was looking for. But I left the Pulp because I like pulp. It’s just as good. Thanks

  5. The recipe says it makes about 7 servings, approximately what is the size of each serving? Thanks!

  6. 5 stars
I made this, and I wasn’t so sure how it was going to turn out, but it was so delicious! Thanks for the recipe!

  7. I’d love to be able to freeze in a smaller amount than the freezer bag indicated above. Do you think I could use an ice cube tray for the liquid? Of course it’d be less water to dilute once it thaws. Just wondering if this has been attempted?

Approximately how much strawberry puree should be added? I didn’t want to overpower either flavor. First time trying and I’ve done 1:1 ratio (1.5cups of each)

    1. I’d definitely try to use fresh squeezed, since it’s really the main element! But a high quality bottled would work.

  9. Hello
Just to clarify with this part –
    “Can you freeze fresh lemonade?
Yes! You can freeze the lemon juice concentrate from this recipe and save it to make homemade lemonade, any time. Mix the cooled simple syrup, fresh squeezed lemon juice, and pureed strawberries together. Pour into a freezer bag and freeze for up to 5 months.”
So, is this just a long way of saying to mix up the strawberry lemonade as per the recipe, and then pop it all in the freezer instead of drinking it? (I got confused at the start when it was talking separately about freezing the lemon juice. So do I freeze the lemon juice, or do I freeze the entire batch of cocktail. I’m thinking the latter.)
Thanks! Can’t wait to try this recipe.

    1. I took the instructions to read that you could freeze the concentrated mix prior to adding the extra water. I have made a large batch and will freeze half of it for later. We like to add soda water instead of just water and it is so refreshing.

Omggg love it!!! Made this recipe and my husband & kids approve. I poured a cup for all of us to take a sip & see how we like it. Lol my son said “this is mine” ok mommy “this cup, can i have it?” 😁

    1. You can get a lemonade juicer. It’s a simple thing that you press the lemon onto and move around. The juice falls through the holes and the seeds and pulp stay on top. Or, you can squeeze them by hand. This takes time though and if you have wrist pain like I do, it sucks

This is a great summer drink. I also tried it with replacing the strawberries with raspberries and it came out Devine. My husband likes peach lemonade using this recipe. Thank you

  12. Delicious! Used half lemon and half lime juice since I didn’t have enough lemons. So glad I found this because I got to use my fresh organic berries from my local farm. It was really tasty and making concentrate allows for customization! Beautiful!

  13. My granddaughters and I made this lemonade and we all loved it!!!! Very simple to make. Tastes so much better than powdered.
    Thank you for sharing

  14. That lemonade was delicious but one tip is to specify how much sugar to use my recommended amount was about one cup

      1. When doing the 2x batch how much water do I put in the simple syrup and how much goes in the lemonade when it’s done?

Oh wow this is amazing! My neighbor has two types of lemon trees, Meyer and another I don’t know. I’ve experimented a lot with various lemon dishes but have always shied away from any type of lemonade. I gave this a try with my freshly grown strawberries and really, this made my weekend! I think it’s perfect! Thanks for sharing!

Made this today and it was just a bit too sweet for my liking, but that’s also because I try to limit sugar in general…yeah I’m one of those people! This might be perfectly sweet for others. I should have not added all of the simple syrup and added half to gauge the sweetness. Other than that, this was really good!! My niece liked it as well (she’s the one who had requested it in the first place). Will definitely make this again 🙂

  17. I tweaked the recipe by adding a flavored bag (cheesecloth) with one cinnamon stick, dried orange rind, 4 cloves and two pieces of star anise to the simple syrup mixture while it was on the stove. It added a much more complex flavor.

  18. I love this recipe and I have made it a couple of times. I wanted to ask if it’s okay to use lime juice instead of lemon?

  19. After u make the drink and put it in the fridge how long do you think you have too drink it before it goes bad?

    1. I too, would like to know the longevity of this beverage stored in the refrigerator. Thank you.

  20. Would you be able to do the strawberries on the side and add the puree as people want it? I was thinking of making lemonade for our outside vendor shows and having different fruit flavors on the side and just straight lemonade in the pitcher

  21. I FINALLY made this! Been wanting to for two weeks! It is delicious! Except, I thought your video said to add 2.5 cups water or more depending on how sweet you really want it. I added 2.5 plus about 1.5 cups of ice! I love it! My husband didn’t like it. But he doesn’t like much of anything. 🙄🙄 More for me!! 🤣😂 Thanks for the recipe!

  22. We make this every summer! We only put in the water for the simple syrup and make a concentrate to save room in the fridge, and sometimes I mix the concentrate with vodka and it’s delicious. Mostly I just mix it with water and my kids and I enjoy it and it’s super good that way too 😉

This was terrific. However, I use the lemon zest and put it in the sugar water mixture at the start, so you have a lemon flavored simple syrup when you’re done. It really increases the lemon intensity

    1. I will definitely try that next time. I saw your suggestion an hour too late for this batch. 😉

I’ve made this twice now for our ladies card group. Here in Tucson we have plenty of free lemons from our friends. Wonderful tasting and very simple to make!

This strawberry 🍓 lemonade 🍋 is the BEST !!!!!!!! This is a must try recipe!!!!!

    1. I haven’ tested it, but I think an artificial sweetener like splenda would taste much better than honey would.

I just made this in less than 20 minutes it’s fast easy and very very good! Great job to whoever made this recipe and thank you!

OMG this is so good my family loved it
I tried it! It is so good and these are relatively easy ingredients to find that you probably already have laying around. Absolutely delicious! Perfect for the summer heat. I was looking for a strawberry lemonade recipe that replicated that of. This is so refreshing this is a very nice strawberry lemonade recipe because of the much detail you put into it. this actually helped a lot, ‘cause I have a project about lemonade so this was very helpful. The best strawberry lemonade 🥤🥤Thank you🥤🥤yummy yummy🥤🥤🥤🥤

This is great. I didn’t heat the sugar with water (I never do with regular lemonade and don’t have any problems with it not wanting to dissolve) and just mixed everything together.
I used cheap bottled lemon juice – would highly recommend buying a good lemon juice or using lemons to get fresh squeezed juice. The strawberries make the bad lemon juice less noticeable but I can still taste it.
I didn’t strain my pureed strawberries. Not bad but it is a lot more pulpy than I expected. I’plan strain them next time.

This is a great recipe though and I’may saving it so I can make it again and again.

Loved this! Mix it one glass at a time, about 1 part concentrate to 2 parts sparkling lemon water over ice.

Super good! With really Fresh soft lemons from a tree I would cut the sugar by 1/8 cup less. What a treat😊

I loooove this recipe! Absolutely delicious! Perfect for the summer heat. I was looking for a strawberry lemonade recipe that replicated that of Cheesecake Factory’s (my fave)and this recipe does it! As instructed at the end, I would suggest to add 2 cups of water to reduce the sweetness (or serve with looots of ice), or to just reduce the amount of sugar in general, but that is up to personal taste. To those squeezing their own lemons, I found that 6 lemons was almost perfect. Thank you for this amazing recipe!

This is so refreshing.I did not have a mesh sieve. I used juicer for lemons. I suggest diluting with more water.
