This Frozen Hot Chocolate recipe is my summer addiction! We blend real melted chocolate into this cool icy drink and finish it with a swirl of whipped cream, all ready in 15 minutes.

We make Frozen Hot Chocolate on repeat all summer long.
That's not an exaggeration, and our frozen hot chocolate is every bit as delicious as the original (from Serendipity in NYC) but super easy and inexpensive to make from home. We use real melted chocolate for the best rich chocolate flavor (be sure to buy high quality chocolate since it's the star of the show). You can use any type of milk for iced hot cocoa (or non-dairy milk), but the higher fat milk with make a creamier drink. I love that I always have the ingredients to make this!

How to make Frozen Hot Chocolate:
Make Chocolate Mixture: Chop the chocolate into small pieces and melt in the microwave on half power, stirring every 20 seconds, until melted. Stir in sugar, cocoa powder, and salt. Slowly whisk in ½ cup milk, whisking constantly until smooth.
Blend: Pour chocolate mixture into a blender with remaining 1 cup milk and 1 cup ice cubes. Blend until smooth. Add additional ice if you want it thicker. Pour into glasses and serve immediately, topped with fresh whipped cream and chocolate shavings, if desired.

Thanks Diana! I’m so happy it hit the spot on a hot day 🙂
This is a terrible recipe! I followed the recipe EXACTLY and it turned out to taste EXACTLY like pure chocolate syrup. Also the consistency was very watery and chunky please do not make this recipe! I almost puked!
Thank you
This was SO GOOD! I have tried frozen hot chocolate before that was just milk, hot chocolate powder and ice. The melted chocolate you call for in this recipe really made the difference. Thank you!
Just made this with my kids and a few of their friends and it was hit with everyone! I used semi-sweet chocolate chips.
