Easy Instant Pot Stroganoff

As I’ve been continually developing easy instant pot recipes, I’ve realized I need a few more instant pot ground beef recipes.  I also love making all in one instant pot recipes that really highlight the beauty of the instant pot.  This Instant Pot Stroganoff is everything I hoped it would be and so much more.

You’ll notice that other instant pot stroganoff recipes use steak or beef stew meat.  This recipe is adapted from my stove-top stroganoff recipe because I wanted to make a ground beef stroganoff recipe for the instant pot.  I love that this recipe uses ground beef instead of steak because it’s cheap, convenient and easier to make than other instant pot stroganoff recipes.

Other instant pot stroganoff recipes require you to pressure cook the steak before also pressure cooking the whole meal.  The method I use is way easier and is ready in less than 30 minutes!  My husband officially dubbed this his new favorite instant pot recipe. Let me teach you how to use your instant pot!

How to make Instant Pot Stroganoff:
  • Sauté the ground beef. Turn Instant Pot to sauté. Once the pot is hot, spray the bottom with cooking spray (or add a little oil), and add ground beef. Brown the meat, breaking it into small pieces as it cooks, and season it with salt and pepper. Remove any excess grease.
  • Add onion, garlic, mushrooms.  sauté. for 1 minute.
  • Add flour, cream of mushroom soup, beef broth, and noodles. Stir to combine.

  • Pressure cook 2 minutes.  Quick release.
  • Stir in sour cream, parsley, salt and pepper.

How to double instant pot stroganoff:

To double instant pot stroganoff, simply double all of the ingredients but keep the cooking time the same! (The instant pot will just take a little longer to come to pressure).

Can you freeze beef stroganoff?

I wouldn’t recommend freezing this recipe because I don’t think it tastes great reheated from frozen.  If you do decide to freeze it, do so before you add the sour cream.

Can I make this Instant Pot recipe on the stovetop?

Yes! If you don’t have an instant pot, you can easily make this recipe on the stovetop with my Easy Beef Stroganoff recipe.

Instructions

  • Turn Instant Pot to saute. Once the pot is hot, spray the bottom with cooking spray (or add a little oil), and add ground beef. Brown the meat, breaking it into small pieces as it cooks, and season it with salt and pepper. Remove any excess grease.
  • Add onion, garlic and sliced mushrooms and saute for 1 minute.
  • Add the flour, homemade or canned cream of mushroom soup, beef broth, and noodles and stir to combine.
  • Secure instant pot lid, and turn valve to sealed position. Cook on Manual Setting or High Pressure Setting for 2 minutes.
  • When pressure cooking is complete, use a quick release. (If liquid sprays from the knob, close knob, wait 30 seconds then release pressure again. You may also turn knob half way so only a small amount of steam is being released.)
  • Carefully remove the lid and stir mixture. Allow the mixture to cool for a few minutes, then stir in sour cream, parsley, additional salt and pepper to taste.

  1. Can I make this same recipe using 2 pounds ground beef? Then I guess I’d have to add more of the pasta? I like to make a lot so I have leftovers.

  2. 5 stars
My husband always requests me to make this when we camp in the fall and winter. Great comfort food and so easy to make!

  3. 5 stars
Easy and Delicious! I successfully [and nervously] doubled this in my 6-qt IP, but it was only 1/2 in from the max line. I used lean ground beef and did not drain the small amount of grease and that helped thicken the sauce. I also added ~1 TB of Worcestershire sauce, but everything else was per the recipe. Great for a large crowd.

    1. 5 stars
I never leave comments, but after making this five times, I feel it’s only fair to give a big thank you. My family loves this. I have made it as written, and prefer it with just a little bit of Worcestershire sauce. Tonight I’m attempting a double batch, because every time I make this I think I’m going to have leftovers and I never do.

  4. 5 stars
Toddler approved! Had to convert a few things to Australian measurements – but this is on the list for weeknight meals. I added the Worcestershire sauce for sweetness, which was suggested by others. Great recipe. Thank you

  5. 5 stars
Taste is fantastic, and I use your homemade egg noodles and cream if anything soup recipe too!! It’s a family favorite!! But every time I make it I get a burn error on my Instant pot, any pointers?

  6. 5 stars
Made as directed and followed the suggestions to use some red wine vinegar and Worcestershire sauce. I probably used 1/2 cup of sour cream because I thought it needed to be a little creamier. Fast, easy and delicious with ingredients I had on hand. 2 thumbs up for this one.

  7. 5 stars
Yummy! I did corrupt recipe bc I added Worcestershire sauce and red wine vinegar as mentioned by previous reviewers. I also threw in some Swiss chard to make it a one pot meal. Very tasty!

  8. This is our go-to recipe when we want a quick and easy comfort meal! The ONLY addition I make is adding a tablespoon of red wine vinegar and Worcestershire each when sautéing the onions and mushrooms. Just gives it a little more bold flavor. Thanks for a fantastic recipe!

  9. 5 stars
Love this its a big hit with my family of four! I added worcestershire sauce and that gives it even more amazing flavor 😋

  10. 5 stars
We’ve made this a few times. It has fast become a family favorite. If there are leftovers its a game for who gets them for lunch the next day. Rock Paper Scissors and go!

  11. 5 stars
Made this many times! It is so good and easy and tastes delicious 😋. My family loves it!!!!

  12. 5 stars
This recipe is definitely one of my favorite instant pot recipes. There are never any leftovers on this dish!!!

  13. 5 stars
This recipe is so so good. I just made it for dinner tonight and added in more garlic cuz we love garlic. I also substituted the flour for a packet of french onion soup mix. I will definitely be adding this recipe into my rotation.

  14. 5 stars
Love this recipe, I do not cook in the instant pot though, I just cook on stove. I also add 3 extra cloves of garlic. So delicious.

  15. 5 stars
This was great! So quick to prepare. I was a bit concerned about the uncooked egg noodles, but I took the leap of faith, and they turned out terrific. My DH was surprised that the noodles cooked so well in the Instant Pot. Thanks for sharing.

  16. I have made this and will make again. It is a wonderful easy dish. However, I brown the beef, stir in the flour and seasonings, then add about 1/2 cup of the broth and deglaze before adding the noodles on top. Then I add in the rest of the broth and push the noodles down into the broth. I add the condensed soup on top of the noodles (not touching the edges) and stir it all together after releasing the pressure. It is delicious and I never get a burn notice.

    1. 5 stars
This worked out so amazingly well…I used venison (added swedish spicing; cardamom, nutmeg, dill, extra parsley) and doubled the recipe! I had to cook for 4 minutes as the noodles were a bit too al dente, for the increased amt. I’m also enamored with the condensed soup recipe and subbed arrowroot for cornstarch.
Thanks for an EPIC recipe that we’re going to enjoy indefinitely <3

  17. I just made this yesterday Nov.7 there is just my dog and I ,I am 80 but my dog will not say. We LOVE it, i left out the garlic , as it’s not good for dogs.

  18. 5 stars
This is my favorite beef stroganoff recipe to date! It is so easy with not having the extra step of boiling the noodles. Next time I will brown the hamburger and saute the onions, garlic and mushrooms in a separate sautee pan in hopes that will not make the burn warning quick on.

    1. That’s exactly what I ended up having to do after my third attempt and third burn warning. I’ve also realized it makes a HUGE difference if you make sure the bottom of both the instant pot AND the inner pot are completely cool before pressure cooking. I can finally make this recipe without worrying ill get the burn notice.

  19. I’ve made this numerous times now. We love it! I always receive a burn notice and get some stickage on bottom of liner. Maybe because I use a 12 ounce bag of noodles rather then the suggested 8 ounces?

  20. 5 stars
The whole family loved it!! I cooked the mushrooms separately in butter (for a finicky eater) and then let people add them in at the table as they wished. My spouse said it is definitely a do-over.

  21. Recipe is delicious my kids love it. However my Insta pot always flashes the burn warning. Anyway to avoid this? Thank you!

    1. I never fry or saute in my instant pot. I use frying pan then transfer everything to IP to cook further. Its easier for me and don’t have a burned pot to clean.

    2. don’t stir before you pressure cook it. add the noodles on top of the ground beef, then add broth, then add the soup. the burn notice happens when the bottom gets too dry and food sticks/burns. if the noodles aren’t touching it and the liquid can get to the bottom, you should be fine.

  22. 5 stars
It was good. I added 1 T. Worcestershire sauce and 1/2 tsp. Hungarian paprika. It was perfectly cooked.

    1. 5 stars
Sharon – You should not comment on this recipe as you didn’t make THIS recipe! You made your own! I made this dish exactly as listed and it was wonderfully delicious- my husband says this dish is a “keeper”. Thank you Lauren!

      1. There’s nothing wrong with Sharon’s comment. She simply stated that she added a couple ingredients which other readers might like to hear. Myself included. Perhaps you should look within Prior to commenting on other people’s comments. Your input was uncalled for and rude.

        1. Not rude – realistic! Perhaps You and Sharon should post YOUR recipes as this is Lauren’s and I love it just as she has represented it! Xoxoxo ❤️❤️💋💋

      2. Anna Ervin, I share your irritation with people who change a bunch of things in a recipe and then give it a bad rating, because maybe it was just bad due to their changes. But 1 T. Worcestershire sauce and 1/2 tsp. paprika is not that much of a change, and she didn’t give it a bad rating.

    2. 5 stars
Thank you Sharon! I’ve made recipe a few times now but adding a little Worcester and paprika really made it that much better! Thank you Lauren for recipe!

      1. 5 stars
Really good recipe! I invited my mom over for dinner & she really liked it as well. I did add the Worcestershire like some suggested. Definitely would make again.

  23. 4 stars
Made as directed, except for I added portobello mushrooms for a little meatier texture. Problem I had is I got a Burn Notice. Don’t know if it was due to the flower or what but the bottom of my pot the food was burnt. Removed everything from there to another instapod and it tasted great just lost about an eighth of the meal. Definitely making again

  24. followed instructions to a T, all was going well til the “burn” warning came on. Downside to Instant Pot is you can’t remove the lid right away to rescue it. Used our dinner budget on the ingredients so gonna have to eat burnt stroganoff with a little under done noodles. I hope the remedy my sister gave me to cancel the burnt taste works (brown sugar). Will research and try another time. pretty new to my instant pot. Thanks for the recipe

    1. When you saute in the insta pot be sure to pour in a small amount of liquid after sauteing is complete and scrape the bottom of the pot to remove any stuck food. So in this recipe, after you saute the meat and mushrooms, pour in a few Tbls of the beef broth and scrape the bottom while hot. Make sure nothing is stuck to the bottom then add the remaining ingredients.

  25. 5 stars
Super easy and the teen boys ate it. I had most of the stuff on hand. Although I had the mushrooom soup, I did not have any mushrooms. So I used a tiny, drained can of sliced black olives instead. I did add some Worchestshire sauce as another reviewer suggested. Good way to use up that sour cream tub too.

  26. 5 stars
So Good! So Easy! So Fast! I do not think I have every made anything that tasted so good with so little effort. I am not a great cook and this recipe had everything I was looking for-great taste, easy to make, ingredients that I had on hand, and only one pot to clean up!! WOW!! My daughter commented that there was so much more flavor than my usual “stroganoff”. Thank you and keep these delicious one pot wonders coming. I might actually get to where I don’t mind making dinner lol.

  27. 5 stars
This was delicious and so easy!! Never thought to put noodles in a pressure cooker. Thought it would just make them mush, but not the case! Great ingredient proportions so didn’t have to tweak other than adding items that I like personally. Very nice!

    1. Yes, as long as it fits in your instant pot without going above the max fill line. Cook at the same time as directed, the pot will just take longer to come to pressure.

  28. 5 stars
This is a winner for our family! I’m still getting acquainted with my Instant Pot so I really appreciated what setting(s) to use for the recipe. It turned out perfectly!

  29. 5 stars
Excellent! I did mine with some petite sirloin steak cut into small strips. Browned it like the recipe says then added 1 cup of beef broth and cooked on high for 8 minutes, then added the rest of the ingredients and cooked for the remainder 2 minutes like the recipe says. I left out the mushrooms because of my own preference. It was great!!!

  30. This was so tasty! It’s added to my meal rotation. The only change was a few dashes of Worchestershire Sauce! Yum, thanks for sharing!

  31. 3 stars
Was okay. I got the burn message on my instant pot before it ever got up to pressure. I made it work out….
I added prepared horseradish, smoked paprika and worcestershire sauce to liven it up🙂

  32. 5 stars
Love this recipe! Followed the recipe exactly as is and it came out perfect. The sauce is creamy and I used plain Greek yogurt instead of sour cream. Delicious!

  33. This was very good. I liked how smooth and velvety the sauce was. The recipe was too much for my Mini IP so I had to cook the noodles separately, otherwise I followed the directions exactly. The only issue I had was the “foamy liquid” shooting out the pressure release valve. It took more than 10 minutes of natural release until I could manually release the remaining pressure without creating a mess. I credit that problem to having a mini pot that was too small for this recipe. When we bought our IP, we had no idea there were different sizes and the mini was the only one being sold where we bought it. Anyway, I would make this again but only make a half batch to fit everything into the mini. Thanks for the recipe!

  34. 5 stars
Sooo good! I made it without the mushrooms and added some garlic powder, onion powder and paprika and it came out amazing! It was a huge hit with the family and couldn’t have been easier. Made it in about 10 min. It’s definitely a keeper around here!

  35. 5 stars
I accidentally doubled the beef broth but it came out perfect so I think I’ll always add extra. My boyfriend said this should be a regular in the rotation!

  36. 5 stars
This was delicious! Followed the recipe exactly as it was written, and it turned out perfect. This recipe is definitely a keeper that will be used again and again. Thanks for sharing!

  37. 5 stars
Easy and tasty. This is a bland concoction, although delicious, so for those people who like more intense flavor, you might want to add some paprika or some spices you like. However, this is comfort food at its best. Next time I make it, I’m going to add scallions, maybe frozen peas, whatever else seems likely to work. Anyway, this recipe is easily adaptable. Enjoy!

  38. 5 stars
This was the first time I made beef stroganoff and it turned out great! Such an easy and delicious recipe! My family devoured it.
I did follow the reviews that said to add the cream of mushroom, flour, and sour cream after. Very happy I did!

  39. 5 stars
Delicious! I used ground turkey and your homemade recipe for cream of mushroom soup. I am glad I doubled it–it’s a hit for my whole family! Thanks, Lauren! I’ve loved every single recipe of yours I have made so far!

  40. 5 stars
Wonderful. Made this with your homemade soup recipe also. I did not make sure my pot was sealed correctly so basically made it like a slow cooker.haha It was my mistake but came out great! This would probably be even better as a leftover dish but there weren’t any!😁 imagine that! Will definitely make again! Thank you for these jewels!

  41. 5 stars
Looks heavenly, but do you think it would work the same using gluten free pasta? My family is gluten sensitive.

  42. This was awesome! I suggest waiting to put the cream of mushroom and flour in until after it’s done cooking along with the sour cream. Super simple and super fast. Even the kids loved it. (I cut the mushrooms up pretty small ;))

  43. 5 stars
I love this recipe. However, I also love stroganoff with filet. Do you think it would work with steak, just directly substituted for the ground beef and prepared exactly as per the recipe?

  44. 5 stars
My husband loves beef stroganoff so I was looking for an easy instant pot recipe when I came across this one. It turned out great and everyone loved it! I even doubled the recipe. Perfect!

  45. 4 stars
Tasted really good, but I got the burn message so I had to finish it off on the stove. I was really skeptical about adding the cream of mushroom and flour because I was pretty sure it would cause the burn message, but tried it anyway against my better judgement. Next time I’ll just leave those out and add them in after the pasta is done pressure cooking. If it weren’t for that part though, it would be a 5 out of 5 recipe! Probably the best stroganoff I’ve ever made.

  46. 4 stars
I felt it was a touch bland for my & my husbands taste, so I added an envelope of Beef Stroganoff seasoning, and it really added that punch of flavor we were looking for! Thanks for the quick n easy recipe!!!

    1. The first few times I made it it was wonderful, now everything I am getting the burn notice…what am i doing wrong?
I’ve started saute on low, I let it sit 10 mins after saute before pressure cook to cool. I deglazed the pot with a little of the broth…
      Help! I love this recipe!

  47. 5 stars
The fam loved it! We haven’t bought red meat in years, so we used ground venison instead of beef and it was amazeballs!

  48. 5 stars
This was super easy but took a bit longer for me cooking-wise.
The noodles weren’t fully cooked for me either so I added a minute and did a pressure release after 7 minutes. Used oyster mushrooms, finely chopped kale and dill and it was amazing!!

  49. I had to double thee recipe (we have a bigger family) and I’m new to instant pot and we kept getting the burning food flashing even after we added more liquid. Any suggestions to help?? I’m also sooooo not a cook and dislike it so that’s why we got it so I can learn quick easy recipes. Aaaaand fail. Lol! Thanks!!

    1. So I found that only having the seer on a few minutes at a time and letting it cool before actually pressure cooking helped big time. I think going from seer to cook kept the bottom too hot and burned. So I seer for like 2 minutes, and add a minute a two if needed then wait 5 minutes after I drop it manually, not on warm, ans then add everything and start the pressure cooker

  50. 5 stars
Hello! Made this recipe and absolutely love it! Will definitely be making it again. But had a quick question about the calorie count. It says 371kcal/serving. But what is one serving equivalent to? 1 cup? Am on a specific diet and want to know how much I can eat the next time I make it for me & my family. Thanks so much! And, again, great recipe!

  51. 5 stars
I am a rookie. First try and the dish turned out perfect.
ONE QUESTION…… when you state “Pressure cook 2 minutes. Quick release.” what is the CROCK POT brand setting/button for “pressure cook”? Is it the “steam” button or what?

    1. Pressure cook is for the InstaPot, not a Crockpot. I would think you just need to prebuilt your noodles or adjust the time for the Crockpot.

  52. Very yummy and best of all, super easy recipe! My noodles were not cooked all the way with 2 min cook time and quick pressure release, I think next time I will try 3 minutes.

  53. 5 stars
Thank you for this wonderful, flavorful and easy recipe! It’s perfect for a summer night during quarantine, when your family wants some comfort food but the chef doesn’t want to heat up the kitchen! ; ) This won rave reviews from my family, and it couldn’t have been easier to prepare. Wonderful! Much appreciated!!

  54. My family loved this recipe. I like to brown my ground beef on the stove. Since I added 1/2 cup water, my gravy wasn’t as thick so we added rice to the dish. It was delicious!!! I want to try more of your great recipes!!!

  55. I found it very bland. I did add a couple ounces of sherry. I like the previous comment of adding some Worcestershire for additional flavour. It probably still needs something else, like some hot pepper flakes.

  56. 5 stars
This is our go to stroganoff recipe! We make it about every second or third week anymore. But I’m wondering if it freezes well? My daughter has a lot of food allergies, even though I switch up a few of the ingredients and it still turns out great. But I was wondering if it froze well that way I can keep some in the freezer just in case we need something in a pinch for her…

  57. 5 stars
We have made this twice now! I have a picky husband. He asked that I cut the mushrooms smaller this go around. I love that all ingredients are fresh, and few! Thank you for a great traditional recipe 🥰

  58. 5 stars
First receipe I made in my instapot. My husband and I loved it, plus my 18 month old son loved it, he signed for more. Highly recommend. Super easy to make.

  59. 5 stars
My husband and I really enjoyed this. I made a few changes, no mushrooms, my husband won’t touch them. I also added a tbs of Worcestershire sauce. Might add peas or broccoli next time. We will definitely make again.

  60. 5 stars
Easy to follow was my first instant pot meal and the whole family loved it even the picky eaters

  61. 5 stars
I’ve made this several times now. Simple, delicious, and satisfying. I use Banza pasta and sub the sour cream with Greek yogurt to make it a little healthier. I also mix in frozen peas at the end!

  62. This was delish! It was a hit with the 4 year old, hubby and I. Will 100% be making again! Added salt and pepper to our individual bowls.

  63. 5 stars
The whole family gobbled it all up tonight! Thank you for an easy, no hassle, flavorful dish. Followed the recipe exactly, left out the parsley, turned out wonderful.

  64. 5 stars
Incredibly easy and quick to make. It has a lot of things in it my kids and husband won’t eat….but I chanced it and my pickiest daughter loves it. She was amazed when she heard there were onions and mushrooms in it.

  65. 5 stars
Added some mustard powder and some Worcestershire sauce to the recipe! It’s great with or without the additions!

  66. 5 stars
This was so easy and tasty!! I followed recipe with only a few exceptions – I used regular beef broth and not low-sodium and probably about 1/4 – 1/2 cup more than recipe, and did not use parsley at all.
My 6 year old used to love Hamburger Helper Beef Pasta, and I bet now he won’t touch that again after having this and loving it (he’s my Goldie-locks).

  67. 4 stars
Made this last night for dinner and it is so good! Super easy the only thing I didn’t do was the sliced mushrooms, I dont like them haha. Thanks for the recipe I will be making this more in the future.

  68. 5 stars
So good and so quick! I used a combo of cream cheese and Greek yogurt instead do the sour cream! But everything else the same! Thank you for this quick easy meal!

  69. So delicious and easy. The hubby loved it and went back for seconds! This will my “go to” for stroganoff.

  70. 5 stars
I did my first ever dish in the insta pot through this site and it turned out great! So I figured I would try everything on this site to build my confidence, haha. Made this dish as my second choice and turned out even better than the first. It was easier and directions were detailed enough to follow with ease. So far loving my journey through this insta recipe she has created!

  71. This was amazing. I had to make a couple changes, only because we’re quarantined and I used what I had on hand. I used ground turkey (I do that sometimes anyway) and it was great in this recipe. I also only had canned mushrooms and I had no fresh parsley so I used Italian Seasoning as mentioned in previous comments. I did add a little Worcestershire sauce because I normally do in my regular stroganoff, I love the taste. I’m new to the Instant Pot, this is probably my 4th or 5th time using it and I had no problems at all. Super easy and again, amazing. Even our 9 year old picky eater went for seconds. So dang good! I printed this one out for our recipe folder. It’s a keeper for sure.

  72. I am looking forward to making this tonight. It looks delicious. Did you use your homemade egg noodles in this recipe?

      1. This may sound like a stupid question, but did you cook the egg noodles before putting them in the instant pot, or do they cook in the instant pot?

  73. 5 stars
This is my 2nd instant pot recipe I tried and it was great. Very good flavor, super easy and quick. Definitely a keeper. Thanks for sharing!

    1. Sure! I wouldn’t change the cook time–the post will just take longer to come to pressure.

    1. Not with the noodles at the same time (as stewing beef will take much longer to cook than the noodles).

  74. What can be used in place of the cream of mushroom soup? I can’t use mushrooms or onions due to allergic to them. Love how easy this is. Want to make soon. Grandkids love when nana uses Seymour Foodi to make magic meals!!!

  75. 4 stars
Loved it! This is definitely a keeper! So good😊 Can I double the recipe using the same cooking time?

    1. I have tried cooking this twice now, and I made sure to add the correct j ingredients, but I get the burn sign every time.

  76. I made the recipe and after 2 minutes the pasta was still hard. I added a bit more broth and cooked it for an additional 2 minutes and it was fine. I dont know if the type of pasta you use makes a difference. I only had penne pasta so I went with that. Otherwise it was simple and delicious.

    1. Yes, the type of pasta is what makes the difference :-). Egg noodles cook quicker than penne (whether boiling or instant pot). 🙂

      1. First off this recipe is delicious! I will make it over and over again. Unfortunately every time I make it I get the burn notification. Not sure what I’m doing wrong 🙁

  77. I’ve made this recipe. It’s easy and delicious. But my problem is that my instant pot says to put half a cup of liquid in it. When I put the amount this recipe calls for then the burn message comes on because it’s too much liquid. How do you handle that?

  78. Quick (and probably stupid) question… do you cook the noodles before putting them in? I’m guessing yes but wanted to be sure.

  79. I am cooking this now I set the cooker for two minutes high pressure it’s up to pressure but the keep warm light is on with LO :19 and counting up is this correct?

    1. That means it has already cooked for the 2 minutes and is now doing a natural pressure release. So if a recipe says to “quick release” after cooking, then you could have opened the lid 19 minutes ago. If a recipe says “natural release” you let the LO timer count up as long as it takes until the lid is not longer locked and will release freely.

  80. 5 stars
This recipe is so good and super simple! My (picky) husband loves it and so does my toddler. Ended up using 12 oz of penne noodles (cause that was all I had) and it still tasted great! Husband already requested it again and it hasn’t even been a week since I made it last.

  81. 5 stars
This is the new favorite of our two year old granddaughter! She didn’t even notice the mushrooms. I did get the burn notice so I’ll need to watch that the next time I make this. Such a yummy recipe!

I’ll definitely be making this regularly. It was extremely quick and easy to make. I ended up using 12 ounces of noodles and it turned out great. Very flavorful and I’m excited for the leftovers tomorrow!

  83. Dont know why after 4 min my food was still not done. I habe had it on for about 15 min now. And i had to add more water.

Also why is it that my instant pot does not beep once it has reached the time i set it for. I literally have to stand nearby and keep looking at the clock.

  84. Ok so made it with only slight issues … For one I used ground pork on accedent and for 2 I think that’s why when I went to pressurise the pot it kept coming back burnt food … 🤣😂🤣😂… I will say this if you make it try it with the ground pork … It still turned out amazing with a lil kick back …

      1. I get a burn warning (some pots are apparently very prone to this) if I don’t scrub off/deglaze the pan after I brown the meat. So I added about a 1/2 cup of water after browning the meat and the onions and garlic and scrubbed the bottom of the pan with a wooden spoon. I also added just a little extra water to the recipe. Then I didn’t have burn issues.

  85. How do you prevent it from burning? My first pot I cleaned the bottom before I started pressure cooking it burned so I just changed inserts and make sure there was liquid and it burned again. I’m finding that when the recipe calls for noodles I get the burn notice. What can I do to prevent this?

Tweaked the seasoning a little bit to my family’s liking. Turned out fantastic. I used my beef stock from when I made beef tips. Even my picky grandkids ages 2 and 1 gobbled it up.

  87. Going to try this Friday to make for my mom. Can I use different noodles? If I can do I still put them in for 2 minutes?

  88. Have not tried it yet but wondering if 2 minutes is enough time to cook the noodles. I have a beef noodle casserole that I have to cook for 12 minutes to cook the noodles. Can’t wait to try this.

    1. This recipe is for the instant pot, in which case the timer on the pressure cooker gets set for 2 minutes. Regularly boiling the noodles would require much longer.

This was a win for the whole family! Even my picky 10 year old ate it, including the mushrooms and onions, and had seconds! This will definitely go on our weeknight favorites list!

  90. I have a large family. If I want to double this recipe do I double the liquid or is there another amount that I would use?

This was delicious. My family enjoyed it. Thank you for sharing the recipe. I will definitely be making it again.

  91. Made this tonight. It was delicious! I used a suggestion from one of the comments to use Italian seasoning instead of parsley and it was good. Even my kid that doesn’t like onions or mushrooms liked it! Win for me 😊.

  92. My wife likes meat balls in beef stroganoff when make it. But I want to try it in the instant pot. Can I use frozen meat balwls?

    Great recipe!

I used stew meat instead of ground beef and sauteed it in butter(eliminates the extra grease)
2 min cook time was spot on and the stew meat was tender and delicious.
Fed my family of 4 with everyone having seconds.

    1. Yes, you can. Cook at high pressure for half the amount of time listed on the pasta package, minus 1 minute. For example, if the box of pasta says to boil the noodles for 10 minutes, then you will cook them in the instant pot for 4 minutes.

    1. Is your instant pot newer? The newer ones are really sensitive. Deglaze the pot with the broth after sautéing, and scrap any browned bits up from the bottom of the pot. Also try spraying some cooking spray on the bottom of the pan after you finish the saute step. Hope that helps!

Very good and it was so easy we made this as our first meal in the new pot and I am so glad we did. I did not have fresh mushrooms so used a can of mushrooms just as good.

Did the recipe pretty closely- we actually did 1 1/2 times the quantity. Very pleasantly surprised with how well it turned out, rich and flavorful. We substituted Italian seasoning for the parsley. The recipe directions were easy to follow and the results were crowd pleasing – even our “picky eaters” wolfed it down. This recipe made ot into our ‘comfort food’ group of favorites. Adding peas and carrots directly after the pressure cook adds color and truly a one pot dinner.

I forgot to add the cream of mushrooms but I added it after with the sour cream, and it came out really good.

Made this tonight. Wow so yum! Not an empty plate at the table. I am printing this for my make it again book. I subbed gluten free noodles and kept the 2 minute cook time. Turned out perfect. If you are a little worried about the water to flour ratio omit the four and add a sprinkle of starch before serving to thicken the sauce. I added a can of mixed peas and carrots before serving. I had an open can in the fridge that needed to be used up and I figured it was just a little more veggies for the meal. Thank you for this easy yummy meal!

I followed this exactly. Got the burn notice. Ate it anyway as it was cooked and it had no flavour. Will not make again!

  99. Hi there! Do you think I could substitute this recipe with sliced cremini mushrooms? I have leftover from Thanksgiving!

  100. Hello! I was very excited to make this recipe, but ran into issues with the burn notice popping up. I had to empty the pot, scrape off noodles/meat and restart. Did you have this issue? Any suggestions?

    1. I’m so sorry–I would check the liquid to pasta ratio requirements for your instant pot–sounds like you need more liquid.

Oh my goodness, my hubby bought me The Instant Pot last week, hmmm I remember my mom many many years ago cooking dinner in a pressure cooker and it exploded what a mess it was. Anyway I hesitated to take it out of the box but have looked at Manuel and videos and decided today was the day. I did the test then after looking for recipes with supplies I had in pantry. I am so happy I found this recipe it was yummy and easy to make I will definitely make it again and looking forward to more of your recipes.

    1. You set the instant pot timer to cook for 2 minutes. The pot still has to build up pressure, before the timer starts. But yes, the timer is only for 2 minutes. Enjoy.

What a great recipe! I just bought my IP 2 days ago and came across this recipe as I was looking for something to make in it. So glad I found it. I added a bit of Worcestershire sauce to up the beefy flavor. This recipe is definitely getting added to the books for my family!

    1. I haven’t tested steak in the instant pot, but I think it would need to cook longer than this recipe requires, which is tricky because the noodles would overcook.

My daughter discovered this recipe and told me I had to try it. I have now made it twice. We love it and it couldn’t be easier.

First recipe I tried with the Instant Pot and it was a hit! So easy and really delicious. The leftovers even warmed up well. Putting it in the rotation!

I’ve used my instant pot for rice, beans, eggs, etc, but this is the first full recipe I’ve tried in the instant pot. Sooo good! My husband is particular about beef stroganoff but he really loved it too! I’ve been intimidated by the instant pot but I’m so glad I tried this one and am looking forward to trying more of her IP recipes!

    1. Thanks Lindsay, I’m flattered 🙂 I hope you get to try more of my Instant pot dinners soon!

This is the third instant pot “meal” that I’ve tried from this website and it was amazing. Even my two year old loved it.
