We’ve been sharing 5 day weekly meal plans for many years now and we love the feedback we get from those of you who found our meal plans and who are using them regularly.

Each meal plan has 5 dinner recipes that will serve approximately 4 adults.  We’ve tried to be thoughtful about including recipes that the whole family will love as well as varying the recipes to include a variety of different meals so that you’re not having chicken every night!

Why Meal Plan?

If you’re reading this, you probably already have your own ideas about why meal planning is a good idea for your family, but here’s what we think:

1. Save Money:

We’ve included the estimated cost per recipe and cost for the entire meal plan, making it even easier to budget and see exactly how much you’re saving when you cook from scratch and use a meal plan!  You’ll also save money by dining out less often, avoiding impulse purchases, and wasting less food!

*note that recipe costs are an estimate based on ingredient prices at my local grocer.  They will likely vary depending on where you live.

2. Eat Healthier:

Cooking from scratch is a great way to manage your health goals.  Both take-out and pre-made meals from your local grocer are going to have more fat, sugar, and sodium than the same foods cooked at home.

3. Save time:

The hardest part of meal planning is finding the ideas and creating a shopping list, and we’ve done that for you!  Our Shopping lists include categories like “pantry staples”, and “spices,” and hopefully those are items you already have on hand so you can cross them off of the list. Then you can use the categories to help you find what you need quickly and easily.

Don’t forget to search for appetizers, sides, or dessert recipes to add to your list.  Often a post will offer suggestions for sides that might accompany the recipe, and if you would like to swap any meals for a different meal, visit our main dish recipes or search our recipe index.

If you love our recipes, please leave a 5 star comment at the bottom of the recipe and join our facebook group, “From Scratch Food Lovers.”

  1. I’m so excited to try these! My only suggestion would be to include the meal plan number on the shopping list. We want to remember which plan to come back to since they look so yummy. Thank you for your generosity in sharing your meal plans with busy families such as ours!

  2. I agree with all the previous comments. I’m SO happy I stumbled on this website. I love to cook and even grocery shop, but the part I struggle with every week is coming up with the dishes that I will cook. I’ve used Pinterest to keep a running list of meals, but I still have to scroll through and choose and think of what both my son and husband will like, especially if I want to try something new. This website does it all for you, and I really appreciate that! This is the second week I’ve tried the meal plans and so far each dish is a hit with my husband and 3.5 year old son. The ingredients are simple and the recipes are pretty quick and easy. Thank you for the time and thought you put into creating these meal plans. I see myself using them all year long. I feel like these first couple weeks of the new year have been less stressful and more enjoyable knowing I already have my meals planned out.

    1. I can’t tell you how much this means! Thank you for taking the time to comment–I’m thrilled they have already made 2020 less stressful for you!

  3. I currently work 2 full-time jobs in the medical field. However, I have never been able to plan ahead for meals. My kids are grown and gone, and 1 wish I had found your site when they were young! I currently now have myself and husband to cook for and struggle for something to fix between jobs daily. Your website is WONDERFUL! Your plans are easy to follow and recipes are great every time so far. I prepared week 53 last week and they were all simple and great tasting. You must truly be an amazing woman to prepare and maintain this site and I am in awe!
Thank you for your website and saving us from take-out! I have your site bookmarked and you are my daily go- to place. Please keep up the amazing job!

    1. Wow, Kim thank you so much! I’m so happy you’ve been enjoying some of my recipes–thanks for the wonderful comment.

  4. I have tried a lot of these meal plan sites and have been frustrated with a bunch of fancy ingredients and long-to-prepare meals. I was searching, yet again, for another meal plan site when I found this one. So far, so good! The portions are a bit high for my family as it’s just the two of us, but I’m freezing extras or taking things for lunch at work. Cost savings all around. I tried sites where you input all your own recipes and then a shopping list is generated. Cool if you have that time, but I don’t. I want a list ready to go and to not have to think about this too much. I really don’t enjoy cooking, but I have to. I’m quite happy for you to make this easy for me! Thank you.

  5. Omg, I’m in awe right now. I can’t even remember how I stumbled across your website, but I’m so glad I found this.

Your cooking style is pretty similar to mine, have to feed a bunch of kids, quick to prepare, And shopping with meals in mind.

Not only did you have recorded a weeks worth of meals, you have amazing instructions for when I want to try something new, PLUS a freaking shopping list.

This is amazing! I feel like fate has brought me here and I made a new friend lol. Seriously thank you!

    1. Thank you so much, and I’m so happy you found me! I hope you get to try out the meal plans soon. Thanks for commenting and making me smile.
