Vanilla Mug Cake in 3 Easy Steps:
- Add the dry ingredients to a microwave safe mug; flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

Can you make mug cakes dairy free?
You bet! For dairy free mug cake, substitute almond or soy milk and use dairy-free butter or coconut oil.

I tried this with water instead of milk…I know it sounds awful but I had a craving! It was actually really good. Reminded me of a favorite sugar cookie dough. Used those sugar sprinkles in the batter and a little on top, added a teensy bit extra vanilla. Loved it! Last vanilla I tried was disgusting, had egg in it. This is great even with water, can’t wait to try again when we buy milk! Thank you! 🙂

I used to make mug cakes all the time, but had forgotten the recipes. Having some left over ingredients from holiday baking and a hankering for a treat I did a quick search. I whipped this up quickly and it turned out lovely. I read the reviews first and realized I might need to punch it up flavor wise. That’s it course personal preference. What I ended up with was a vanilla spice cake using some pie spice I had tucked away from thanksgiving. What a lovely treat to have without feeling guilty about overindulgence. Get creative as this is a base cake. You could add all kinds of things and if it doesn’t turn out, no big deal.

Thick, doughy and disgusting. I followed the recipe exactly and cooked for 90 seconds in a mug. Inedible

start out with 70 next time, as all microwaves are not the same

My go to for a base mug cake recipe. I always add 1/2 tsp cinnamon to to flour/sugar mix and also had more cinnamon on top before putting in the microwave, I made the top like a cinnamon swirl. I love putting a little cream cheese glaze on top. I’ve made this mug cake probably 8-10 times and have had consistent results- delicious, fluffy and moist cake every time!

It’s very nice, although make sure you don’t overcook it. Start with 70 seconds and go from there depending on your microwave. I would recommend to anyone that is craving something sweet that’s not chocolatey. This is my go to recipe every time!

Ive been searching for a good vanilla mug cake FOREVER. Ive now made this one so many times, its the perfect portion size and tastes great. I will say, the order of which ingredients go into the mug is a bit odd. I make it by melting the butter first, then adding the rest of the wet ingredients and finally, the dry ingredients. When I recommended the recipe to a family member they followed the instructions and it didn’t turn out right. Regardless, this is a great recipe that is now saved to my collection.
