Caramel Pecan Apple Crisp with warm cinnamon apples, crumble oat topping and sweet caramel flavors all in one bite.

A white plate covered with caramel pecan apple crisp with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and caramel being drizzled on top.

I have been so excited to share this Caramel Pecan Apple Crisp recipe. It's absolutely delicious! Hooray for amazing fall dessert recipes! Anything with apples or pumpkin has my vote.

Caramel Pecan Apple Crisp in a casserole dish with a spoonful taken out.

My traditional apple crisp recipe has received rave reviews, and this Caramel Pecan Apple Crisp takes my old favorite to a whole new level! Pecans are mixed in the crumble topping and toasted perfectly crisp. And caramel sauce is drizzled over the apples and over the crispy crumble when it's finished baking.

Apples topped with a pecan crumble and a scoop of ice cream.

The end result is amazing- warm cinnamon apples, crumble oat topping and sweet caramel flavors all in one bite.

Ingredients

For the crumb topping:

For the Apple filling:

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  • In a medium size bowl combine the crumb topping ingredients with a fork or pastry blender until it resembles small crumbs.
  • Refrigerate while you prepare the apple filling.

For the Apple Filling:

  • In a small bowl, combine melted butter and flour until well blended.
  • Add lemon juice, milk and vanilla and stir well. Stir in brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
  • Pour butter mixture over apples and toss to coat. Pour apple mixture into an 8x8-inch (or similar size) baking dish and spread into an even layer.
  • Add caramel bits and water to a microwave safe bowl. Microwave for about 1 ½ minutes, stirring every 30 seconds, until the caramel bits are melted and smooth.
  • Drizzle ¼ cup of caramel over the apples. Sprinkle crumb topping evenly over the top.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown and top is set. Remove from oven and allow to cool for at least 10 minutes.
  • Drizzle remaining caramel on top right before serving.

Just wondering roughly how many servings this recipe makes…planning on making it for a work Thanksgiving potluck and wasn’t sure if I will need to double or triple the recipe. Thanks!

How many servings would you say are in this recipe? Trying to figure out if I need to double or triple it for a potluck dinner

After making 6 quarts of applesauce (I have 2 five-gallon buckets of freshly picked apples…), I knew I wanted to make an apple crisp, too. I started with your regular crisp recipe, but clicked on the caramel sauce recipe, which lead to THIS, and I decided to throw in the caramel with the crisp, and YUM. Was this ever good. I’m usually all about chocolate for dessert, but this was delicious.

I didn’t have pecans, but I’d like to try that next time. (I got through one bucket of apples today, I still have another bucket to go, plus several trees full out at our farm if I want more apples!)

This looks amazing! I LOVE apple crisp, and while I don’t make it very often, I do enjoy the indulgence now and then 😉 I’m definitely pinning this for later!
