In a medium size bowl, cream together shortening and sugar.
Add eggs, milk, and vanilla.
In a separate bowl, mix dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, and salt).
Slowly mix dry ingredients into the wet mixture until you form a large dough ball. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Lightly flour your counter top. Roll dough ball out until 1/2 inch thick.
Cut the dough into stars using your star cookie cutter. Place cookies on a lightly greased baking sheet.
Bake at 350 degrees for about 8-10 minutes. Cookies should still be soft when you take them out, but not doughy. (Don’t overcook or they will be hard!)
For the frosting, combine all ingredients in a large bowl and blend well until smooth.
To decorate with strawberries and blueberries
Cut the top off of a strawberry.
Hold the strawberry with two fingers, the top of the strawberry facing up. Slice the strawberry vertically into thin slices (start at the top and slice down, with your knife parallel to the floor as you slice).
Cut those heart shaped pieces in half, to make the angles of your star.
Place the strawberries on your frosted sugar cookies, tips pointing out. Place 2-3 blueberries in the center.
