We have had such a long, drawn out winter here in St. Louis that I can not WAIT for summer and for, yes I’ll say it, swimsuit season!!! I know, I know–most people dread thinking about swimsuit season, but this year I’m excited to dust off my swimsuits and lounge by the pool! I always bring along my sunglasses and a nice cold drink, like this delicious Sparkling Blackberry Limeade, or a can of my favorite ice cold soda! Water is great and everything, but let’s be honest, sometimes on a hot day you need some flavor!
And I’m going to let you in on my little secret; I don’t even have to feel bad about bringing along a can of soda, because now some of my favorite sodas are only TEN calories! The DPSG (Dr. Pepper Snapple Group) recently came out with new four Ten Calorie Beverages which I bought at Walmart!
I’ll admit, I’m pretty particular when it comes to the types of soda I like, and I usually always go for the diet drinks. I was skeptical at first that the flavor in ten calorie drinks might be weak, but I was sooo wrong! They taste fantastic and I can feel good indulging in a low calorie drink…by the pool..in the warm sun! Yep–my happy place!
Sparkling Blackberry Limeade
Print this recipe
3 cups fresh blackberries
1/4 cup sugar
2/3 cups freshly squeezed lime juice
5 cups 7UP TEN
Puree the blackberries in a food processor or blender and then strain the fruit through a mesh strainer into a bowl to remove the seeds. Discard seeds. Add sugar to the pureed blackberries and stir until the sugar dissolves. Add lime juice and pour the whole mixture into a pitcher.
Just before serving, slowly add chilled 7UP TEN to the pitcher. Stir lightly. Serve immediately.
Even though I used 7UP TEN to make this amazing Sparkling Blackberry Limeade, you could totally experiment with some of the other 10-calorie soda flavors. If you want to see more products and keep up to date, follow the four ten calorie DSPG products on facebook or twitter. And don’t forget to use this coupon when you shop (available while supplies last)!
You could also try swapping the blackberries in this drink for a different type of fruit. There’s plenty of ways to mix this drink up! Or you can’t go wrong by sticking with the original recipe!
I love that this drink is easy enough to throw together on a casual warm day, but it’s also fancy enough to serve for friends at a party or get-together. For me, a yummy cool drink is the first thing I reach for at a summer barbeque, followed by a healthy pasta salad or some Traditional Potato Salad.
Hope you all love this Sparkling Blackberry Limeade!
