Shrimp Alfredo made with fettuccine noodles, served in a bowl

What I love about this recipe:

  • Ready to eat in under 20 minutes!
  • EASY to make with very few and simple ingredients you may already have on hand!
  • Fresh and Delicious – All of these ingredients are fresh and simple, but combined they make the most creamy and tasty alfredo sauce!
The ingredients needed to make shrimp alfredo, including fettuccine, butter, cream, garlic, parmesan and shrimp.

How to make Shrimp Alfredo:

Cook Pasta. Drain and set aside.

Grate parmesan cheese and set aside, to allow it to come to room temperature (which will help it melt more smoothly into the sauce).

Make Sauce: Place butter in a large saucepan over medium heat and cook until melted. Add garlic, stirring frequently for 1 minute. Add cream, bring to a simmer and cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring often. Turn heat to low and add parmesan cheese, whisking until smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Add pasta and toss to coat.

Prepare Shrimp by seasoning with salt and pepper. Melt 1 tablespoon butter or oil in a large skillet over medium high heat. Add shrimp and cook, stirring occasionally, until pink, about 2-3 minutes.

Serve noodles with a scoop of shrimp on top. Garnish with fresh parsley, if desired.

Recipe Variations:

  • Healthier Alfredo Sauce: You could use milk or half and half; the sauce wont be as creamy, and you may want to thicken it with a cornstarch slurry. Or substitute this healthy alfredo sauce from my One-Pan Skinny Chicken Alfredo
  • Seafood Alfredo: Add Seared Scallops to make this a heavenly seafood alfredo!
  • Chicken and Shrimp Alfredo: Toss in some grilled chicken!
  • Shrimp Alfredo with Broccoli: Add some steamed broccoli or other favorite vegetable at the end, right before serving.
  • Cajun Shrimp Alfredo: Season shrimp with cajun seasoning before cooking. Add 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper to alfredo sauce (or less, if you don’t want it spicy).

Notes

Parmesan Cheese: Avoid using pre-shredded parmesan as it won’t melt as smoothly or taste as good as freshly grated!

  1. I’m making your shrimp Alfredo later today. How far in advance do you cook your pasta? Can I make the Alfredo sauce earlier today and then reheat for supper?

  2. It appears the conversion for the grated cheese is wrong. The 1st times 1x recipe calls for 4 ounce grated cheese say 4 ounces or 2 cups. Times 2x recipe says 8 ounce grated cheese or 2 cups. Please clarify, as I would like to make this recipe soon.

Made this for my family dinner and they loved it! I cheated and used prepackaged shredded Parmesan but it still tasted so good! Thank you for this easy recipe!

We make this all the time! It’s so simple and delicious. We plan on putting some Cajun seasoning on the shrimp sometime.

  5. My mom and I made this dinner, it was Excellent!!! We doubled the sauce and my dad just raved about it (he ate 2 bowls). Thank you for this awesome dish!

Made this and it was THE EASIEST RECIPE EVER! I took some liberties with the Parmesan (8 oz cause we like to cheesy), but otherwise followed it exactly and the pot barely made it through the night. Thank you!!

Made it cajun style and it was so good. A great, easy weekend pasta. Will definitely make again!

This was great. I usually use Pioneer Woman’s fettucine alfredo recipe, but I decided I wanted to have the sauce separate from the pasta so it’s easier to reheat leftovers.

I had some shrimp I wanted to add to it and I took your idea of adding some Cajun seasoning to it.

This was a fantastic recipe. Thank you!
