This Air Fryer French Toast recipe is delightfully crispy-toasted on the outside, and soft in the center and is as tasty as it is easy to make! Serve it in whole slices, or cut into French Toast sticks for extra syrup-dipping fun.

Why I love this recipe:

  • Air Fryer – French Toast made in the air fryer give it the perfect crisp on the outside, but soft on the inside texture. Check out all of my air fryer recipes and let me show you how to use it!
  • Freezer Friendly – This recipe is a twist on my popular Classic French Toast, but I like the air fryer version even better! Feel free to make a large batch and freeze the leftovers; they reheat well in the air fryer.
  • Kid Approved – We love to cut the bread into french toast sticks, which are easy and fun to eat.

How to Make Air Fryer French Toast:

Make Batter: Add all of the ingredients, except the bread, to a shallow dish and whisk well to combine (or add to a blender and blend until smooth).

All of the ingredients for french toast in a shallow dish, with pieces of bread cut into thirds for easy french toast sticks.

Dip: Cut each slice of bread into three pieces/sticks (or you can leave the bread slices whole, if you’d like). Spray the fry basket with non stick spray before each batch. Dip each piece of bread into the egg mixture, dredging well on both sides, and then place in the fry basket, leaving a little space between each one and laying them in a single later.  Be careful not to overcrowd them or they will not get crispy. (You may need to cook them in 3-4 batches, depending on the size of your air fryer).

Air Fry at 350 degrees F for 4 minutes then flip them over (separating them from each other if they stick together) and cook for 3-4 more minutes.

Serve air fryer french toast with homemade syrup or maple syrup, breakfast potatoes or a green smoothie.

A delicious french toast stick recipe, all on a plate ready to enjoy.

Recipe Variations:

  • Cinnamon Sugar French Toast Sticks: Mix ⅓ cup sugar and 2 teaspoons cinnamon in a shallow dish.  Dip French toast sticks in batter and then in cinnamon sugar, coating both sides. Air fry as directed.
  • Brioche French Toast, or Challah Bread: Cut loaf into thick slices. Add 2-3 minutes to the cook time, if needed.
  • Crunchy French Toast: Press the outside of battered bread slices into crushed cornflakes or rice krispies cereal before adding to the air fryer.

Make Ahead And Freezing Instructions:

To Make Ahead: The batter can be made a day ahead of time, stored in the fridge.

To Freeze: Allow air fryer french toast to cool completely. Place in freezer safe bag or container then freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat from frozen in air fryer for 3 minutes on 1 side then 2 minutes on the other, at 400 degrees.

This was a disaster. Didn’t matter how much spray I put on the air fryer these stuck to the bottom and turned into mush. What I could save tasted good, but I guess their air fryer can’t do everything

I was a little skeptical about making french toast in the air fryer but I’m a huge fan now! Literally the most delicious ever. I cut them into stick and loved them that way.

This was delicious! We used brioche, because we had it. I am disappointed that I can’t pin a picture of your beautiful french toast, though! I tend to pass right over the recipes on my Pinterest boards that only have text instead of pictures. 😕
